Supplies Needed for our Finding Dory Birthday Party Idea:
- Fish mold
- Blue candy melts
- Yellow candy melts
- Orange candy melts
- White candy melts
- Candy eyes
- 3 ziplock bags
- Small saucepan
- 4 glass bowls
Directions for our Finding Dory Birthday Party Idea
Step 1: Place one candy eye in each mold in the general vicinity of where an eye should go. Click Here to see the mold I used, while it is not the exact shape of either Nemo or Dory I promise you most kids won’t notice!
Step 2: Use a glass bowl that fits over top your sauce pan but doesn’t fall completely inside, this makes a double boiler which helps your chocolate melt quickly and evenly. You want double boiler you want to about 1” of water in the saucepan, place the bowl on top then pour in about ½ cup of candy melts. Turn heat on medium and stir frequently until melted. I went ahead and got all my bowls ready with the wafers so I could just switch them out as I needed each color..on medium and stir frequently until melted.
Step 3: Melt your yellow first, allow to cool slightly, then transfer to a ziplock bag, snip off the corner and squeeze into the mold in the tal area and a strip on the side for Dory’s fin. Try to get the tip of your bag as close to the mold as possible to avoid air pockets.Place your mold in the refrigerator to allow chocolate to set while you work on the next color-blue.
Step 4: Use a spoon to transfer the blue melted waters into the mold, filling up the rest of the cavity. Press firmly with the back of the spoon to fill it completely. Scrape excess chocolate from edges of your mold.
Step 5: For Nemo (or Marlin) I followed the same procedure above, first I placed an eye in the mold then I put white chocolate in a ziplock bag and squeezed in alternating layers leaving space in between. Place mold back in refrigerator, and allow it to harden then repeat with the white.harden then repeat with the white.
Step 6: Allow your candy to harden completely then pop gently from the mold.completely then pop gently from the mold.
