If your looking for something fun to do with your family this Holiday season then don’t miss out on Hershey’s Christmas Candylane!
This weekend my family and I had the opportunity to visit Hershypark for their Christmas Candylane event, and wow I was in awe. The park was so beautiful with all the lights and decorations that I just couldn’t stop staring. The kids of course loved all the awesome decorations, and my 4 year old wouldn’t stop pointing them out. Even the rides and games were decorated for the Holiday season.
So first thing we did when we walked into the park that I think is really neat and the kids enjoyed is getting measured to see what rides they were tall enough for. Once the kids are measured they receive a wristband telling them which candy they are.
My 11 year old measured in as a Twizzler YAY she can ride pretty much anything now, and my 4 year old measured in a Reese’s. I think it is really neat the way they have this measurement station set up, and that you get a wristband to tell you what size you are. Every ride has a board out front letting you know which candy measurement can ride that ride, so no more guessing or having to get measured at the ride to find out!.
Now onto the rides. During the winter season while the park is open for their Christmas Candylane event not all of the rides are open. Almost all of the children’s rides are, but the roller coasters are either closed or depending on the weather a few may be open. They still have some great adult thrill rides for the kid in all of us though. I loved that Hershey took the time to decorate the rides to make them more festive for the holidays. My favorite would be the Dinosaur ride pictured above.
The Shows! My Oh My the wonderful Christmas shows going on at Hershey park are amazing!
I LOVE going to the shows when visiting theme parks and Hershey has topped them all.
A Music Box Christmas is a new show for 2013. Follow the Jingle family as they celebrate Christmas traditions. Laugh all the way as they stumble through this magical tale of a “normal” family Christmas. The music was great and the show was full of laughs. This is one you don’t want to miss!
Next up is one you want to see at night! N.O.E.L. – NIGHTS OF EXTRAORDINARY LIGHTS!
N.O.E.L. is an outdoor music and lights show. Have you ever seen those videos where people add music to their Christmas lights and the light blink to the music? Well imagine 125,000 light “dancing” to Christmas music that we all know and love. This was a breathtaking show and the kids LOVED it. My 4 year old sat down on the bridge where went to watch it, and just danced along to the music while the show went on.
Hershey also has: A Christmas Candylane Storytime at 3pm everyday until the 22nd, Ice Skating, and a Choral Group Program. Learn more HERE.
The one thing we didn’t get to do/see while visiting is see Santa. Santa was their and will be there throughout the month, but when we got to his workshop it had a decent line and the kids did not want to wait that long because they wanted to ride more ride. There is a great option if you don’t want to wait in line and want a more personal experiance with Santa. Hershey offers a “Dining with Santa” option for Breakfast or lunch. Join in the warm and entertaining fun as Santa, Mrs. Claus, and their friends stroll through the restaurant telling stories, singing songs, and offering a candy cane filled with a special treat for each child twelve and under.
And if Santa is at the park then you know he has his Reindeer! Check out all the reindeer at SANTA’S REINDEER STABLES! There are 9 Live reindeer and while you are visiting the reindeer enjoy listening to the music of a Choral group performance! I loved how the stable hands explained to the kids why Rudolph’s nose was black and not red. She said ” Rudolph was able to turn it off through the year, and only on Christmas does he turn it on to help guide Santa’s sleigh”. While your in the area at the stables go Ice Skating right around the corner, it’s priced great at only $2 per skate rental!
Now what would a visit to Hersheypark be without visiting some of our favorite mouthwatering mascots and fun photos!
All decked out for the holiday season we got to visit with Mr. Hershey’s Bar and Mrs. Kiss.
They also had a few spots that had stand ups that you take a picture with your head through it. The kids sure had fun with that!
We also had fun playing a few games and they were also decked out for Christmas!
At the end of the day in the park we headed to Chocolate World which is Free! You can take a motorized fun tour and learn how Hershey makes and distributes their chocolate. There are also fun activities to take part in including cupcake making and being a factory worker.
My kids wanted to be factory workers so they had to put on their caps and have their pictures taken, got their badge and got to work! First they inspected a Hershey Kiss shaped container and then sorted and filled it with Hershey kisses! The experience was free and the kids had fun. You can purchase the gift wrapped chocolate your child just did along with their workers badge for $9 which is a great price & my daughter loved it (Plus we thought her picture was hilarious) so this made the perfect souvenir!
There are so many things you can do while visiting Hershey this year that it would take me pages and pages to write all about it! So go check out what fun you and your family can have while visiting by clicking HERE!
Hersheypark Christmas Candylane runs from November 15th through December 31st. The times vary so you can check the calendar Here.
