Disney/Pixar “The Good Dinosaur, ” is a beautiful movie about friendship, overcoming one’s fears and self-discovery. I had the opportunity ti speak to the talented actors behind the voices of, Arlo (Raymond Ochoa), Spot (Jack Bright) and Buck (Marcus Scribner). I was able to attend this event because Disney/Pixar, Disney Channel, and ABC sent me to Los Angeles on an all-expenses-paid press trip in exchange for my coverage, all opinions are my own.

Raymond Ochoa, Jack Bright, and Marcus Scribner are amazing actors that certainly have a marvelous future ahead of them. All three young men were humble, charming and wonderful to interview. I wanted to share with you some highlights from my interview with them.

Shall we start 🙂

How did each actor get into character?
Raymond Ochoa and Marcus Scribner both did a lot of research on the Apatosaurus and Brontosaurus to get into character. Jack Bright developed his character by testing out his different noisy on his older brothers at home. Jack Bright States, “ I would go around the house annoying my brothers, and they were like, how did being so annoying, making all those noises get you to be in a movie?

How long did Raymond and Marcus work their voice sessions?

Raymond spent about a year in the studio going back to Pixar Studios numerous time to do his entire script; each session took about six hours. Although it was hard work, he states “ I literally, enjoyed every minute I there because of the people I was working with like director Pete, he is so amazing, and he’s so helpful in providing you with what you need to act out your role. I want to thank Pete Sohn because he is such an amazing director.”

However, Marcus spent about a day in the studio for his role. Marcus told us in the interview “Working with Peter Sohn was amazing because he really brings the characters to life, and he lets you know how he wants the character to be portrayed. It all allowed me to get into my character, Buck. Which is definitely different from the character that I play on television. It was a fun experience because of Peter.”

How does Raymond Ochoa balancing life as being a celebrity?

Raymond Ochoa has three older brothers in the entertainment business, and he is in a music group with them. Therefore, he grew up in the industry. His states “I have such amazing parents that help me stay grounded. My brothers have guided me throughout my life and helped me whenever I needed it.”

What are the young actors favorite scenes in the film?
Jack Bright, “I haven’t seen the movie yet but I’ve watched the trailer a lot, and I can’t wait to see the Movie.”

Raymond Ochoa, “I particularly like the scene where Spot and I and Spot start sharing about our family. It was really touching to me and actually difficult to film that scene. The scene took probably the longest to film. That was probably the longest because, Peter Sohn knew that the scene was really going to impact the audience.”

Marcus Scribner, “My favorite scene to film was the part where I get to scare Arlo. That scene took a while to film because my voice is very weird right now so laughing is a little difficult. But to see it on the big screen was really nice and I was like oh wow, I actually sound like I’m laughing.”

What personal traits did each actor bring to their character?
Just like Arlo Raymond looks up to his father, therefore one of the characteristics he incorporated with his character was his love for his father.

Jack Bright character spot is very wild and not scared of anything. However, he has a very kind side to him. During our interview Raymond states, “I literally just met Jack like last night. But just by seeing him, I see how kind he is, how much of an amazing like soul he is, and he’s a great son. He was talking to his mom, and I was like wow, you know, he’s so kind.”

Marcus aspire to be the self-confident leader he portrays as his character Buck. He states ”Buck is self-confident and a real leader. I hope that I have those traits, if not I’ll hopefully develop them in the future.”

So how does it feel to be a part of Disney Pixar history now?

Marcus, “It’s, uh, it’s a mind-blowing experience. I grew up watching movies like Toy Story, The Incredibles, all those movies, so working on a Disney Pixar movie is like my dream come true.”

Jack, “Like Marcus said, I grew up watching Cars, like all those Disney movies and I love them all. It’s a dream come true actually to be in one of their movies; I never thought I would be in an actual film.”

Raymond, “I think my first ever Pixar movie I saw was Monsters Inc., and that’s my personal favorite Pixar movie. I love Pixar, So, to be a part one of their movies as a title character I’m just so grateful to be given this opportunity because so incredible.”

What is one thing each actor wants movie goer’s to take away from seeing the movie?
Marcus,” Self-discovery is what I took away, and I hope that other kids take away from the movie.”

Raymond, “I hope kids learn not to judge a book by its cover, because Arlo at first thinks Spot is mean and evil but, later on in the film he realizes how caring and loving he is.”

This is very interesting to hear the story behind the voices in animated films. I cannot believe that each session took about six hours.
