On September 13, we were invited to cover the red carpet premiere of “Hillsong: Let Hope Rise”, a new genre of cinema that arrived in theaters. I don’t exactly know what to call it, but please let me explain it to you. “Hillsong: Let Hope Rise” is more than a movie: it is a reminder of our faith in Christ.
Below are highlights from our interviews at the premiere.
Before I go any further, let me stress the fact that believers and non-believers alike can find an enormous amount of enjoyment out of this film. Off of the top of my head, I can tell you that I liked the music, the inspiring story of what the band went through to accomplish their dream/mission and the way the movie moved me.
I was very familiar with the songs Hillsong performed in the film, and at some points, it felt like an early Sunday morning in a new and exciting way. If I didn’t believe in Christ or any God, I would still be intrigued by both what the members of Hillsong have sacrificed to be able to tour the world and the insight into what that way of life must be like. I’m a very open-minded individual, so I like the fact that both non-believers and believers can take something away from the film. Due to what’s been going on in today’s world, I think people need unity, and that’s precisely one of the things “Hillsong: Let Hope Rise” brings to us.
“Hillsong: Let Hope Rise” is a behind-the-scenes look at Hillsong’s concert experiences across the globe, but it isn’t as preachy as you’d imagine. The singing is phenomenal and is my favorite part of the hour and forty minutes, to be honest. Although it is Christian music, most of the songs can apply to any type of situation. For example, the song “Oceans” uses the unforgiving waves of the ocean as a metaphor for the tough paths we must follow through life. And that even though things may become overwhelming, you can keep your head high and move forward unscathed.
I know a lot of people will enjoy this film for its documentary/behind-the-scenes aspects, and I’m afraid that a lot of individuals will miss out on something great if they don’t see Hillsong’s story. We’re talking about a small youth group who followed a dream and is now selling out concerts all across the world. This is the kind of story that a lot of us need to see. It inspires me as an entrepreneur because sometimes things are tough, but we keep our heads high even when the ocean’s waves crash against us.
Until Next Time
