During the holiday’s, I enjoy flipping thru the pages of cooking magazine and looking at pictures of Gingerbread houses. I love seeing all the different designs, it reminds me of editable doll houses. I was really excited, to do a review of the Sweet Creations by Good Cook 7 Piece Haunted Gingerbread House Kit.At first, I thought that it was one of those kit that comes with all of the pieces and you just build it. . . .

However, much to my surprise, it was a kit filled with templates, for me to build my own, year after year. Although, it has a stamp for a Halloween design, I could easily just use the shape of the Christmas or Easter. In addition, my kit included  roof cutter and stamp, side cutter and stamp, front cutter and stamp and two roller detail stamps.

The kit included a very easy GingerBoo Haunted House recipe on the back of the box. But I was looking for something that was a bit more cost effective. Therefore, I use 4 tubs of Pillsbury Sugar Cookie refrigerated dough. Which worked prefect and only cost me $5 compared to the $20, I would have spent purchasing all of the ingredients for the  gingerbread. Plus using Sugar Cookie dough was a huge time saver. It was very easy to cut out and stamp each piece of my house. Once in the oven, it took about 20 minutes for each piece.( One tip when using Sugar Cookie dough. In order to obtain a prefect shape, you must re cut each piece as you take them out of the oven.)

The house was fairly simple to assemble, however, there are two key secrets. In order,to support the roof, we used wooden shish kabob sicks and inserted a fitted cardboard box to support the wall. My favorite part of building my Haunted Sugar Cookie House was watching my husband decorate it. We where able to purchase all of decorations from the 99 cent only store and Winco making our total supply cost about $25.

I never thought, I would be able to build my own Gingerbread house from scratch (will kinda scratch). I had so much fun and felt very accomplished at the end. Our The Sweet Creations by Good Cook Haunted Gingerbread House turned out great and even tasted better. I can’t wait to build one for Christmas :)! ! ! !
