SUPPLIES FOR GHOSTBUSTERS RICE KRISPIES TREATS
- 9×13 pan of prepared Rice Krispies
- Ghost cookie cutter
- Circle cookie cutter
- 1 bag Wilton bright white candy melts
- 2 Tablespoons solid shortening
- 5 red Airhead candies (cherry or strawberry flavor)
- 1 tube black icing gel
HOW TO MAKE GHOSTBUSTERS RICE KRISPIES
- Line a large cookie sheet with wax or parchment paper and set aside.
- Using the round cookie cutter, cut out 4 circle shapes from the Rice Krispies pan. Try to cut them out as close together as possible. Place on cookie sheet.
- Using the ghost cookie cutter, cut out 4 ghost shapes from the Rice Krispies pan. Place on cookie sheet and set aside.
- In a double boiler, melt the shortening.
- Add the white chocolate candy melts and stir occasionally until melted and smooth.
- Transfer the melted chocolate to a small microwavable bowl.
- With a metal spatula, spread a thin layer of white chocolate on top of each Rice Krispies circle cut-out. Place back on the cookie sheet to allow the chocolate to harden.
- Coat each Rice Krispies ghost with the white chocolate, either by dipping or using a spoon. Place on the cookie sheet for at least 30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden.
- Cut each Airhead into 3 long strips. Use 2 strips to place on each Rice Krispies to form a circle around the outer edge. You may have to gently stretch one of the strips in order to connect. Gently pinch both ends to seal. Set aside the 3rd strip.
- With the black tube of icing gel, draw the outline of a face and fingers on each ghost. Set aside for 30 minutes to allow the icing to dry.
- Once the black icing is dry, place the ghosts on top of each Rice Krispies. Try to position the arms of the ghost so they hide where both Airheads come together.
- Gently lay the remaining strips of Airheads across the right shoulder of each ghost down to the bottom left side of each circle. Press to seal.
- ENJOY!!
