I have a confession to make. I’ve done The Five Second Rule at least one time. I am positive, most of you know how the Five Second Rule works. If you dropped food on the ground, in the sink, on the counters, on a pillow, on a chair or any other surface and pick it up within Five seconds, it is believed no bacteria will contaminant the food.
When you think about it, The Five Second Rule makes sense, especially to us who aren’t germaphobes. However, this rule is just a myth. *First of all, when we drop food it can actually become significantly contaminated within a millisecond of it hitting any surface. So, why do we follow this rule? We all have those lazy days. Some more than others and we just want to take our chances on that slightly deadly slice of cake.
10 Reason’s Why . . . You Shouldn’t Follow the Five Second Rule!!!
- Sponges, rags, towels, scrubbies – roughly 70 percent harbor microbes such as E. coli
- Sink drains– typically home to more than 500,000 bacteria per square inch
- A University of Manchester study found 16 species of fungi in a single pillow. They found thousands of spores of fungus per gram on one pillow and more than that was found on an average used toothbrush.
- A typical mattress may have 100,000 to 10 million dust mites inside it.
- 10% of the weight of a 2-year old pillow can be dead mites and their droppings.
- Dust mites eat the dead skin flakes of humans and animals.
- Humans shed about 1/5 ounce of dead skin flakes each week.
- About 80% of the material floating in sunbeam is flakes of dead skin.
- Staphylococcus bacteria was found in 26% of the tubs tested in another recent study.
- Almost 50% of American homes have allergen levels that are high enough to cause sensitivity in people who were not previously allergic to dustmites
Now What?
After learning about, some of the reason why I shouldn’t following the Five Second Rule, I am even more cautious about keeping our home clean. Last month, I was blessed to have cleaning technician from Zerorez of Southern California clean my kitchen floor and bathroom tile. Which couldn’t come at a better TIME, since Joy loves to explore every room in our house.
How does Zerorez minimize the IMPACT bacteria in your home?
I’ve never had a cleaning service clean my home. However, now that I’ve worked with Zerorez of Southern California, I plan on use the service quarterly to minimize the impact bacteria has inside of my home.
Zerorez patented EMPOWERED WATER™, has been processed through electrolysis to create a patented alkaline solution that contains millions of hydroxide cleaning spheres that thoroughly cleans and eliminates dirt, bacteria, toxins, left-over soaps or detergents from previous cleanings, viruses, mold, yeast, pet dander, and many other unappealing or irritating products. What I like most is Zerorez patented EMPOWERED WATER™ is non toxic. The alkaline water ZerorezSoCal using is so pure, I can drink the solution!
