If you’re anything like me, raising a daughter after a house full of boys was a whole new adventure. Suddenly, trucks and wrestling matches were replaced with tea parties and dress-ups. And let me tell you, I couldn’t have been happier to dive into the world of all things girly! One of our favorite pastimes is crafting, and today I’m sharing a super easy and fun DIY project that your little princess (and maybe even you!) will adore: DIY flower crowns!
Why Flower Crowns?
- They’re fun and festive: Perfect for a tea party, dress-up day, or just because!
- Easy to make: This project is simple enough for young kids to help with.
- Customizable: Choose your favorite colors and flowers for a unique crown.
- Encourage creativity: Let your child’s imagination run wild as they design their own masterpiece.
- Great bonding activity: Crafting together is a wonderful way to spend quality time with your daughter.
What You’ll Need:
- Plastic headband: I found mine for a steal at the dollar store!
- Flat smooth ribbon: Any color or pattern you like.
- Glue gun and stick: Be sure to supervise young children with this.
- Large artificial flowers: Pick your favorites!
Instructions:
- Prep the headband: Put a strip of glue along the bottom of the headband, just as wide as your ribbon.
- Attach the ribbon: Press the end of the ribbon into the glue and secure it. Remove any glue strings.
- Wrap it up: Tightly wrap the ribbon around the headband, adding dots of glue on the inside to keep it in place.
- Secure the end: Glue the other end of the ribbon to the opposite side of the headband.
- Flower power! Cut the stems of your flowers so they lay flat. Add a glob of glue and attach the flowers to the headband.
- Clean it up: Remove any stray glue strings.
- Wear it proudly! Your little princess is now ready to rule the kingdom (or at least the living room).
Tips and Tricks:
- Supervise young children when using the glue gun.
- Let your child choose the ribbon and flowers.
- Experiment with different sizes and types of flowers for a unique look.
- Add other embellishments like leaves, glitter, or beads.
