Summer is upon us and for me that means wearing my hair up in a pony tail. I get tired of having the same old boring hair ties, and decided to spice things up. Using only two items that I found in my home I was able to make some creative, sassy hair accessories.Items needed:

  • Buttons (must have the loop on the back of the button)
  • Elastic hair ties
  • Bobby pins

Instructions for Hair Ties:

  1. Place button with the back of the button facing up
  2. String the elastic hair ties through the loop on the back of the button
  3. Take one end of the elastic hair tie; place it through the loop that the elastic hair tie has made on the other side, and pull
  4. Use in place of a regular elastic hair tie and enjoy!

Instructions for Bobby Pins:

  1. Place button with the back of the button facing up
  2. Place the bobby pin through the loop in the back of the button
  3. Use in place of regular bobby pins and enjoy!

Now you have an inexpensive way to turn your hair from plain to sassy using only two items that are easily found in your home!

Happy Crafting!

I really like the pretty hair ties and bobby pin ties! You did a great job in creating such pretty hair accessories. I put my hair up every day during the hot summer months, and these are great to make and use. I will have to try your idea.

What a great inexpensive way to add some extra style to your hair ties! I have a tin full of buttons too. Going to be trying this for sure, and also will be using these in my daughters hair.
