Struggling to balance work, family and staying on top of the cleaning? You’re definitely not alone. Trying to keep your home neat and tidy might feel like a near-impossible task when your schedule is jam-packed. When you’re super busy, cleaning might start slipping down the priority list, and before you know it, your home is caked in dust, dishes stack up, and you end up with endless piles of laundry needing doing.

The good news? Having a clean home might not require the extra time and effort you think you need. Yes, you might not have the time to do a deep clean, but instead of waiting to do a major clean once the house has become an overwhelming mess, there are a few handy habits and tricks you can do that’ll make a massive difference. The solution isn’t to spend every moment you have cleaning but instead to find ways of making it faster and your life easier. From daily resets to using technology to lend a helping hand, you can keep your home tidy even when life gets super busy.

Hire A Cleaning Service

If you’re truly too busy and you’re really struggling to keep on top of cleaning your home, that’s where home cleaning services can come in handy. More and more people are opting to hire a cleaning service to help them stay on top of the cleaning and even laundry if it’s all getting too much.

You won’t have to worry or stress about keeping your home clean, as it’ll all be taken care of for you. There’s nothing quite like coming back home from a long day’s work to a fully cleaned home. These services are very customizable, so you can choose how much or how little they help you out with – whether you want one room cleaned, one type of job done, or the whole house cleaned. You can even choose how little or how often they come to your home, so even if you feel able to do a little cleaning yourself, they can fit around that.

Tidy As You Go

It’s easy to do jobs when they’re small and haven’t piled up over time. The same goes for cleaning. It’s much easier and more manageable to tackle small bits of cleaning more often than it is to tackle a huge mess. Instead of waiting for your home to be overwhelmingly unclean, try to tidy as you go.

Jobs like cleaning the shower glass after a shower, washing dishes immediately or even putting clothes away straight after they’re clean don’t take much time and effort on their own. Try to instill the mindset of “If it only takes 5 minutes, you should do the job now”. Anything that’s less than 5 minutes of your time can be done immediately. That way you can stay more on top of the tidying, and there will always be less cleaning for you to do, so it never gets out of hand.

Make It Easier For Yourself

You might think having all your cleaning products in one place is the easiest way to store them, and you’d be very wrong. Yes, you can find them all, but what is the point of storing the bathroom cleaner in the kitchen with all the other products? Instead, store each product in the areas of your home where you actually use them.

Take bleach, for example. If you put a bottle of bleach by your toilet rather than in a cupboard on another floor, you’re much more likely to use it and keep your toilet clean. It makes it seem less of a chore as you haven’t got to go and fetch each product to use each time you clean.

Reduce The Amount Of Clutter

Along the same lines of making your life easier by storing things in better places, why not just reduce the amount of stuff you have to clean by removing unnecessary clutter? The longer your belongings sit around, the more they gather grime and dust – and will also need cleaning on top of the surfaces they’re sat on.

This could be accidental clutter like a box sat around you’ve been meaning to get rid of or even intentional clutter like a coffee table book. Yes, they look nice, but remember you still have to clean them. The less stuff you have, the less you have to clean, and the faster it will be.

Utilize The Help Of Technology

Cleaning doesn’t have to just be you on the floor scrubbing away, putting your blood, sweat and tears into it. Use the tools that were made to help you. Technology can help to keep your home a lot cleaner and easier than you can do alone. Take a robot vacuum, for example; it can automatically collect dust and dirt off the floors without you having to lift a finger, and you can continue to go about your busy day-to-day life.

Other appliances and technology can help you out too. If you’ve not got a dishwasher, you should seriously consider getting one to help you save enormous amounts of time – no space? You can get one for your countertop. You could also consider getting a lightweight, cordless vacuum cleaner. It might not replace your bigger corded one in terms of power, but having a more mobile vacuum will encourage you to do smaller cleans more often, as it’s easier and simpler to use.

The aim isn’t to buy a bunch of gimmicks but to help with certain chores that take up most of your time and make it easier for you to manage.

Staying on top of the cleaning doesn’t mean that you have to spend hours each week tidying. You just need to introduce a few different habits, use time-saving tools and services when you can and tackle some of the smaller jobs as you go. That way, you can stop the mess from becoming too much for you to handle. It’s ultimately about finding a system or hack that works best for you to help keep your home cleaner and more comfortable.
