Last Month, I was blessed to attend “The Muppets Most Wanted” press junket is Beverly Hills, California. I grew up watching the Muppets at night with my grandmother and dad; therefore, it felt surreal being able to attend. The night before, I saw an advance screening of the film, so having the opportunity to hear the film markers thought process as they developed the movie was amazing. As, I listen to cast and crew answer question from members of the press, I discovered 10 Fun Facts about Disney “Muppets Most Wanted”

Their Playing Our Song – The “Muppets Most Wanted” opening song “We’re Doing a Sequel” was inspired by the original movie title “The Muppets Again”. Bret McKenzie, The Original Song Writer & Music Supervisor, thought is would be great for the song to have the movie’s title somewhere in the lyrics. Therefore, the song ends with the Muppets all singing “it’s the Muppets again,” however; marketing changed the title to “Muppets Most Wanted”.

Kids Approved – Director, James Bobin, would take home the films the dailies and show them to his children. Hence, in the last movie there’s were lots of chickens at the time his daughter loved chickens. This round, she was obsessed with the Henson Babies, Dominic accomplices to Dominic.

Manage This – Ricky Gervais, who plays Dominic Badguy a sleazy LA agent use to manage rock bands.

Let’s Work together – The films director, James Bobin, was approach directly by Lady Gaga for her cameo role in “Muppet’s Most Wanted”.

Do You Offer Music Lesson – To work on the songs, The Original Song Writer & Music Supervisor, Bret McKenzie, moved to LA and rented a dusty old shop which was hide away on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood California. There was nothing in the shop except a piano in the back, of the room, and a little couch. During the day people would hear him playing the piano and would occasionally walk-in and ask, “Is there music lessons?” They liked to call it ‘Muppet Solutions.’

A Frog in Siberia – Kermit’s doppelganger Constantine was slightly based off the character General Orlov a Russian Villain from an early 80′ James Bonds movie.

Big Diamonds – James Bobin has always like heist movies, such as, “The Pink Panther” and “The Thomas Crown Affair”. On screen, he has always found movies in that genre had good energy and were interesting. This gave him the inspiration for the caper style story line in “Muppets Most Wanted”.

Wedding Guest – Miss Piggy’s wedding includes quite a few famous guest. However, two people you may not recognize are the directors’ parents. They happen to be on the set visiting their son James Bobin. That day, he was filming a crowd scene so he invited his parents to grab a spare hat and join in.

We are already Green – Although it might make sense for Kermit the Frog to play himself and his counter part Constantine, both characters appear in a few scenes together. However, Kermit skin color is green making it difficult to use a green wall.

Raise It UP – Puppeteers perform on the ground, therefore, door handles and other props are raised about 4 feet to create the illusion of the Muppets co-existing in the real world with humans.
