Having your signature and handprints cemented into the TLC Chinese Theater is confirmation of a great legacy. This week, I got to watch this great tradition in action when Tim Burton added his name to the famous sidewalk.
To me, this ceremony is worth more than any Academy Award, and we all know what to expect when a brand new Tim Burton world is brought to us, whether it’s “Charlie And The Chocolate Factory”, “Beetlejuice”, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” or his latest film, “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”.
My crew and I parked next to the Dolby Theater, and as soon as we saw crowds flood the barricades outside of the TLC Chinese Theater, we knew we were in the right place. After navigating through the hoard of onlookers, we were led through the barricade and into the ceremony where we waited for Tim Burton to speak. Before Tim was brought out, guest speakers reminisced about the impressive portfolio the legendary director has in the movie industry, reminding us of his best work while giving Johnny Depp a shout out as well.
Soon after that, Tim Burton walked up to the glass podium as his fans and media roared in excitement. Tim gave his thanks to everyone for helping him solidify his work as some of the greatest we will ever know and even blew kisses to the audience. And finally, it was time: he placed his hand prints and signature in the freshly made cement as the crowd rejoiced.
We were then escorted into the TLC Chinese Theater to screen “Miss Peregrines’s Home for Peculiar Children”. But first, we grabbed a couple of pictures in front of the movie poster, our popcorn (of course) and a cold Coca-Cola to top things off.

We then found our seats in the theater. Before the film started, the author of “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children” and Tim Burton gave the audience one last thanks before the lights dimmed.
