Finding My Happiness Again #MrsKKing

No matter, how many amazing opportunities I am blessed with my happiness and biggest blessing is my family. Everything else I received is a bonus provided by God.

When the boys were little, I spent most of my time chasing after a career. Therefore, I missed out on football games, school events, I don’t even remember my youngest son’s first words. However, at the time I felt like I was doing the best for them. But when I look back, I often wonder how many times could I have rearranged my calendar to be there more. Did I really need as many late night meeting?

After analyzing my past, I truly feel although I was making a nice living, I wasn’t happy. Why because my focus was off. I missed so much time!!!  When we conceived my daughter Joy, I made a vow that I would never lose my focus again. So when I started www.mrskathyking.com with two goals to develop a business that allowed me to be home with my daughter while creating a fun and amazing resource for families.

But I have to be honest, this year despite all of my success, I realized I lost my focus again and forgot the reason, I work so hard. It to be the mother to Joy and be there for all the thing I missed with her brothers.

So for the past two months, I’ve made it a point to:

1. Set specific office hours – Since my life is on social media I tend to be on my phone all the time. However, I put my phone away when I go to bed and during dinner.
2. Take time with family when I’m on location – My first job when I am at an event is to capture what is going on there. However, Matt and I now cover everything first, and if we can, we take the time to enjoy the experience, too. By enjoying the moment, I’ve found that I am less overwhelmed.
3. When I am out with just the family-  We have a deal where I am allowed 15 minutes to post on social media and the rest of the time is spent with them until we are heading home. Then I can post as they are sleeping in the car

By me choosing to focus on my family first and work second. Although I’m putting my focus is family first, I’ve been more productive and focused during my work hours.

Discovering my true happiness is being able to spend a life with the people in the picture above. Everything else God gives me is just icing on the cake.
