Thoughts on Kevin Spacey’s new film ‘Nine Lives’ #NineLives

First things first, I need you guys to hear me out; Kevin Spacey can literally take on any role and make any movie he’s in great. While Nine Lives isn’t this big summer blockbuster, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth seeing. The advertisement doesn’t do this film justice in my opinion;  but I thought many scenes — especially involving Spacey — were hilarious.  And at the end of the day, there isn’t a lot of fluff and filler that you’d expect from a talking animal/family-oriented film. Besides, when you throw in Christopher Walken and Jennifer Garner, you’re bound to receive some great entertainment.

There are a handful of scenes I thoroughly enjoyed during the film. Without spoiling anything, there’s a scene shortly after Spacey gets transformed into a cat, in which he decides to reach for a bottle of whiskey.  The aftermath of the whole scene was ridiculously funny. Garner’s character’s reaction to some of the things Spacey’s character did while inside his cat body seemed to please the crowd, too.

Underneath all of the laughs, there are some great morals people can take away from the film. Spacey’s character learns how the lack of involvement with his family is affecting everyone, while at the same time we’re reminded to stay true to ourselves, and have hope even though things seem impossible.

Film Title: Nine Lives

I liked that Nine Lives didn’t turn into a cute talking animal movie because the thought of Spacey trying to act adorable is horrifying. While Walken didn’t have much involvement in the film, whenever he was on camera, he killed it with his wit and quick humor we all love him for.

A lot of the things that took place in Nine Lives sound completely wild if you read them on paper, which is why I suggest you plan a family night out and see the movie for yourselves. Talking animal movies are commonly frowned on, but with a cast like Spacey, Garner, and Walken, any level of entertainment is achievable. So, if you think seeing a movie with a group of gun-toting, ragtag villains is too much for your children to handle, just remember, no family can go wrong with cats.
