This weekend I spent my birthday, with Justin and Imonni attending the virtual premiere for YES DAY, starring Jennifer Garner, Edgar Ramirez, & Jenna Ortega. This cute film is all about building healthy family relationships and having FUN together!
Lately, I’ve been working long hours in order to build my Insurance agency www.insurewithkathy.com and I feel like Imonni hears the word no come from me far at least 5 times a day. Therefore, I was super excited to watch this film with her today. The film is inspired by New York Times bestselling creators of I Wish You More, Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld and is a funny look at the one day of the year that can compete with Christmas for children’s affection: YES DAY!  Where parents let their kids chose a day to do whatever type of activity they want no matter how messy, or how silly it will be. The only rule of course is not to hurt anyone, of course.  So, what could possibly go wrong? Of course, I can’t tell you that would ruin the beautify of this film.  But what I can say, it that you defiantly need to take some time to turn off all your electronics, hold of on business calls and watch this film with your kids.

The one lesson I learn from this film, as mompreneurs is don’t be so serious. Don’t get me wrong, although I miss being a stay-at-home mom, I don’t want to go back to being one again. When I decided to start a new business and became a licensed Health Insurance broker it was to show my daughter that you can do anything that you put your mind to. However, somewhere in transition I’ve become so serious, I forgot to have fun, seeing this film reminds me

1) To schedule some time in my calendar to spend quality time with Imonni that will create lifelong memories.
2) Be mindful of how many times I am correcting Imonni or telling her no before she can even complete her question.
3) It’s ok to let my clients know I won’t be available btw the times I’ve scheduled out just for her. After all, most of my clients have kids or their kids or grown-up so they usually understand.

About YES DAY

Always feeling like they have to say NO to their kids and co-workers, Allison and Carlos decide to give their three kids a YES DAY — where for 24 hours the kids make the rules. Little did they know that they’d be going on a whirlwind adventure around Los Angeles, that would bring the family closer to each other than ever before.
