Although, both my son’s are teenagers, they still watch several different cartoons and the Star Wars cartoon’s tend to be the one most talked about at dinner time. Last month, I was blessed to see Star Wars Rebels movie with my kids and I loved it. Now, I’ve seen all of the Star Wars movies and cartoons, but I still felt a little lost when watching the new series.
Every since we saw the movie, they’re now engaged in the Star Wars Rebels new Series, that airs on Disney XD on Monday’s. The week after watching the show, since I attended the press junket last month too, both Huston and Justin bombarded me with questions. That where generally related to the main character and thanks to all of the info provide by Disney, I was able give them great answers. Which earned me some cool mom brownie points. I though it would be helpful, if I shared my finding with you as well. Please feel free to shear this with your friends by clicking the share button.
Story Synopsis:
Star Wars Rebels continues the epic tradition of the legendary Star Wars saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures.
- Time period: Set between the events of Star Wars Episodes III and IV, the story unfolds during a dark time when the evil Galactic Empire is tightening its grip of power on the galaxy.
- What going on: Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet and are ruining the lives of its people.
- Crew of the Starship Ghost: The crew of the starship Ghost consist of cowboy Jedi Kanan (voice by Freddie Prinze Jr) ace pilot Hera (voice by Vanessa Marshall), street-smart teenager Ezra (voice by Taylor Gray), the “muscle” Zeb (voice by Steve Blum), warrior firebrand Sabine (voice by Tiya Sircar), and cantankerous old astromech droid Chopper.
- Their Goal: To stand against the Empire.
Meet the Characters:
KANAN JARRUS (voice by Freddie Prinze Jr). is a survivor of the Emperor’s Jedi purge and the perceived leader of the Ghost crew. He keeps his Jedi past and identity a carefully guarded secret to avoid being hunted down by the Galactic Empire.
EZRA BRIDGER (voice by Taylor Gray), a 14-year-old con artist who learns to fight for a greater good. Growing up on his own in the age of the Empire, Ezra has had to rely on his wit and cunning to get by. As voice actor Taylor Gray explains, “He’s very street-smart. He’s a pickpocket. He’s a little thief. But he’s doing it all because he needs to survive.”
HERA SYNDULLA (voice by Vanessa Marshall), is the heart of the Ghost crew from Star Wars Rebels. The Twi’lek is an ace pilot, able fighter, and a true believer in the Rebel cause. As the pilot of the starship Ghost, she often gets the team to their missions and helps them escape in the nick of time.
ZEB ORRELIOS (voice by Steve Blum), the (smart) muscle of the Ghost crew and he’s is a well-trained honor guard and is highly educated, according to executive producer Dave Filoni, which juxtaposes his brutish, alien appearance. He’s voiced by Steve Blum, who says, “He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, hates Chopper and is starting to build a relationship with Ezra, begrudgingly.”
SABINE WREN (voice by Tiya Sircar), is a key member of the Ghost crew in Star Wars Rebels and unlike any Star Wars character – especially in her love for blowing things up and tagging her work with graffiti.
I hope Star Wars Rebels: A Mom’s Guide has been helpful to you. I encourage you to take a break from your daily schedule and watch it with your kids Monday Nights a 9/8 central on Disney XD.
