I love making gifts for my friends however, being a stay home mother, often times I have no time or tons of money to spend. One Christmas, I wanted to make and edible craft, that would amaze my friend, so I made stain glass cookies. They ended up being a huge success and my friends adored them. Now the that holiday is in full swing, I through that I would share this recipe with you. If you plan on making cookies for your kids, church group just for a holiday party. I am sure you will make a splash with these creative cookies.
Supplies:
1) Large Cookie Sheet, Cookie Cutters and Squeeze Bottles.
6) Reynolds wax paper
5) Betty Cooker Icings with decorating tips
Ingredients:
2) Rolls of Pillsbury Cookie Dough
1) Bag of Jolly Rancher’s
Instructions:
Preheat oven 350 and prepare stain glass by dividing your Jolly Rancher’s into equal quantities & place in the freezer for 1 hours. Place a set on a piece of wax paper and roll them inside and fold on all four corners. Using a mallet or hammer pound the Jolly Ranchers till they are in chips. Place back into the fridge until you are ready to build your stain glass.
Line your cookie sheet with wax paper and separate the dough into fours. Roll each piece out to about an 1/4 inch thickness and cut with cookie cutter. Bake cooking for about 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and re-cut each cookie using the cookie cutter. (If doing this craft with kids keep the cookies on the wax paper and place it on a table lined with paper.) Using a paring knife or metal spoon, cut out shapes in the center of the cookie, make sure to leave about a 1″ space around the edge. Melt candy on a unlined sheet to avoid wax paper sticking to the back side of your cookies. Moderately fill each cookie with the Jolly Rancher Pieces and bake for an additional 5 minutes to melt the candy. Let cool for about 5 to 10 minutes and decorate.
Let cool for about 5 to 10 minutes and decorate. If you would like to give as gifts. Place each decorated cooking in the freezer for 1 hours and wrap in a clear bags, tying them off with ribbon.
