My favorite time of the year at Knott’s Berry Farm is when the park transforms into a winter wonderland and becomes Knott’s Merry Farm a place families can retreat from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and enjoy the warm feeling of a true classic Christmas with the whole family.

Discalmair: I have been compensated in the form of tickets to Knott’s Merry Farm in exchange for this post, but opinions are 100% my own.

–

From November 17 through January 7, Knott’s Merry Farm provides the perfect backdrop for your family’s holiday memories with a park transformation that surrounds you with the glorious sights, sounds, and scents of the season of Christmas that can only be found at Knott’s Merry Farm.

There are so many things to do at Knott’s this time of the year. Guests of all ages can stroll through the merry streets of Calico for unique seasonal treats that can’t be found anywhere else, listen to traditional live Christmas Carolers, shop at a Christmas Crafts Village offering unique and personalized gift ideas and more. However, this year we decided to focus on all the wonderful activities for kids to do at Knott’s Merry Farm.

Here is how to have a spectacular day at Knott’s Merry Farm with Kids

Let the Kids Explore
Camp Snoopy is a child’s dream come true with kiddie rides placed throughout an expansive and immersive six-acre land that combines the fun and natural beauty of the high sierras with the whimsy and silliness of Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang!

Tip #1 – When we go to Knott’s Merry Farm we start off in Camp Snoopy so Joy can enjoy the large verity of rides before going to the show that is located at Camp Snoopy Theatre.

Take is Easy and Enjoy a Few Shows

There are 3 must-see shows for kids at Knott’s Merry Farm.

Merry Christmas, Snoopy!, the festive ice show | Location: Charles M. Schulz Theatre

Snoopy, the Peanuts, and a cast of world-class ice skaters perform in the spectacular ice show, “Merry Christmas, Snoopy!”  in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. During the show, filled with whimsy and spectacular skating, Snoopy enjoys all of the best parts of the season, including trimming the Christmas tree, awaiting Santa’s arrival, and attending the festive Christmas Ball!

Tip #2 – To get the best seating arrive about 30 minutes before the show starts and seat in the orchestra section center stage.

Calico Tree lighting Ceremony | Location: Calico Park

This all-new Calico Tree lighting Ceremony features the Calico Bell Choir and the Citizens of Calico as they join together around the tree for an illuminating Christmas celebration filled with, music, laughter, and happiness.

Tip #3 – This is a standing room only show and your best view of the ceremony is in front of the stage. Therefore, get to the show about 30 minutes early.

“A Peanuts Guide to Christmas” | Location: Camp Snoopy Theatre

The Peanuts give their take and unique wisdom in a primer designed to help everyone survive the holidays. The show features delightful mash-ups of holiday songs with a cheerful and heartwarming dose of the Peanuts gang.

Tip #4: After the show, head right next door to the Peanuts Meet and Greet Area to take a picture with your favorite character.

The above picture is Joy from about 3 years ago. Now that she is older and can ride all of the rides in Camp Snoopy. She wanted to go on more rides before heading to our next activity.

“It’s The Merriest Christmas Show Ever, Charlie Brown” | Location: Calico Mine Stage

The Peanuts gang is at it again, this holiday season they have put on the greatest Christmas pageant ever with Charlie Brown directing, of course. Charlie’s one wish is to spend the holidays with his family, especially with Snoopy, who is visiting his family around the world. Will Snoopy make it home in time for Christmas?

Drop in and Visit Santa

Santa’s Christmas Cabin | Location: Wilderness Dance Hall

Our daughter loves visiting Santa Claus at his cabin in Knott’s Berry Farm. In the cabin, guest can take pictures with Santa and let him know what they want for Christmas. You can also try seasonal snacks, treats and more.

This year they have tamales, and they were amazing, and for dessert, we enjoyed freshly-baked cookies, chocolate dipped cheesecake and gourmet hot chocolate with marshmallows.

Tip #5 – I always save this for one of the last things we do before we end our day. We visit Santa first and take pictures. The seating is limited in Santa’s Christmas Cabin. Therefore, while I’m in line waiting to take pictures, Matt looks for a table.

Enter a Winter Wonderland

Snow and Glow Show | Location: Ghost Town

Every night during Merry Farm, when the sun sets on the Farm, the buildings and paths in Ghost Town’s Main Street and School House Road are filled with glow and snow! Thousands of sparkling lights dance to the beat of Christmas music while snow gently falls in this spectacular one-of-a-kind moment.

Make time to have fun year-round  at Knott’s

Purchase your 2018 Season Pass now and receive unlimited visits in 2018 with no blackout dates.

Tip #7 – Get a 2018 Season Pass and use your pass for one free admission to Knott’s Merry Farm this year. I’ve bought a Knott’s Season Pass before, and I saved money on my monthly activity budget because we planned a lot of our family activities around events happening at Knott’s. In the spring we go to Knott’s Boysenberry Festival, during the summer we use us it for Knott’s Soak City and many other events the park host.

These tips are based on what worked for me when I visited the park with my daughter Joy. I recommend you making the adjustments base on what your family enjoys doing.

Until Next Time,
