There is no doubt that the side hair buns are the iconic look of Star Wars’ Princess Leia. Rumor has it those buns will be resurrected on a new character when Star Wars: The Force Awakens is released next week. (Fun side note, Billie Lourd, know for her role as Chanel #3 in Scream Queens, was cast alongside her mother Carrie Fisher to play the unknown role that everyone swears is not “Princess Leia’s daughter.) If you are planning on celebrating the release, why not add these super simple Princess Leia’s Inspired Bun Cookies to your event.

Ingredients for Princess Leia’s Inspired Bun Cookies:

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • ½ c. creamy peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp butter
  • ¼ c. chocolate chips (you can use dark, bittersweet milk, semi-sweet, or a combination)

Quick & Easy Directions:

Step 1 – Preheat oven to 350 degrees and place puff pastry on the counter to thaw.

Step 2 – In a glass bowl, melt peanut butter, butter and chocolate chips in a microwave for about 30 seconds at 50% power. Mix together.

Step 3 – Unroll puff pastry and gently roll to flatten a little. Spread chocolate peanut butter mixture right to the edges of the pastry.

Step 4 – Roll pastry from one side to the center.

Step 5 — Roll dough from the other side to the center. Rolling the dough from both sides to meet in the middle creates the double bun look we all love.

Step 5 – If the dough is getting too soft, refrigerator before slicing. Once chilled, slice into 12-16 slices and place on cookie sheet.

Step 6 — Bake for 8-10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Serve with buns facing up and enjoy.LeiasBuns6

Those sound delicious. I like that you begin with already made pastry. I’m not a good cook and pastry can be tricky.
