From Nov. 21 to Jan. 11 The Queen Mary is taken over by a deep FREEZE! The family and I attended The Queen Mary annual CHILL event and I think it’s one of the best winter attractions for kids because it allows them to experience a winter wonderland right in their own back yards. The Queen Mary turns it’s sea side grounds into a Santa’s Village and drops the temperatures to realistic North Pole weather.
I love attending this event with my lil diva Joy. It’s was such a unique opportunity that we were blessed to share. I thought it would be helpful to give you some tips, that will make your Queen Mary’s Chill Event with a toddler extra special. Please feel free to share with your friends by sharing on Facebook, Tweeter or Pinterest!
Breakfast with Santa:
Start your day off right having breakfast with Santa, Mrs. Claus, the Elves and the entire CHILL family each Saturday from 9 am to 1pm during the holiday in a Salon aboard the Queen Mary.
Tip#1: To beat the crowds try get there around 9 am. This will allow you to enjoy your breakfast with Santa.
Activities:
There’s so much to do for kids at Chill. They can deliver a letter to Santa, watch the various Christmas shows, build a ginger bread house, explore Miss Kandi Kayne sweet Candyland Bounce House, make toys or ornaments with the Elves and more.
Tip #2: Check out Claus Cabin, it has a great photo display for pictures with Santa and the photo packages start as just $8.00.
Rides:
Free Ice Skating – Enjoy a lovely night swizzle and twizzle with you little one on this world class 6,500 square-foot outdoor ice rink. It’s located in front of the ship and built with real ice!!! Free ice skate rentals are include in your ticket price. However, you are welcome to bring your own ice skates, if you have them.
Ice Kingdom Queen Mary slides – unlimited access to the 10-foot, four-lane ice slides is included in the cost of your ticket.
Tip #3 – If you have older kids in your group, there’s other exciting rides available for them. However, I recommend you purchasing an E.L.F. (Express Lane Fast) Passes. The pass is available for $15and it gives you front of the line entrance to both the Ice Kingdom or Ice Tubing lanes! Plus, it includes unlimited access to the Swingin’ Sleigh Ride. Which is regularly priced at $5 per ride!
The Ice Kingdom:
The Ice Kingdom was amazing and is my favorite part of the event! Step inside the Queen Mary frozen igloo and immerse yourself in a truly enchanting world, handmade entirely out of ice. The 13,000-square foot winter wonderland features over 2 million pounds of ice. There are several beautiful exhibits that were meticulously created by an international team of expert ice sculptors. The displays are enhanced with stunning lights and colors which gives them a captivating inter glow.
Tip #4: I would bring, a hat, gloves and a nice thick sweater to wear under the parkas they provide. The parkas are required wear because temperatures drop to a numbing 9-degrees. They offer sizes Child Small to an Adult XL that both Matt and I fit.
Tip #5: Strollers are not allowed in any area of the Ice Kingdom and its standing room only. So, I highly recommend doing this activity first or after breakfast with Santa.
