Being a mom is definitely a full-time job, which means that finding the time to take care of yourself and really treat yourself isn’t always easy. However, it’s so important that you do it because self-care isn’t just about feeling nice and relaxed; it’s about your health (physical and mental), and that’s essential (especially if you’re caring for others). With that in mind, here are some of the ways you can treat yourself when you’re a mom.
Have A Salon Day
A trip to the salon can be a fantastic way to give yourself a treat and really indulge in some all-important self-care. You could get a new hairstyle if you want to, or you could just get a trim so you feel a bit better and confident about how you look. You might choose to have your nails done or perhaps indulge in a pedicure. Maybe your salon does other things too, like massages or makeup.
Whatever it is that takes your fancy is whatever you need to book, and the key is to make sure you have time to enjoy all the benefits of a good salon day. That might mean asking for some babysitting favors, but it will definitely be worth it when you’re done.
Get Aligners
If you’ve been wanting to improve your smile for a while, what about treating yourself to some aligners? These are great devices that an expert will measure up for you and talk to you about, but that essentially help to straighten your teeth.
Don’t worry; they’re not like traditional braces. They’re a lot more discreet and comfortable, and it could be that this is the perfect treat for you, especially if your teeth have been a problem for a while now and you keep promising yourself you’ll do something about it.
Cook Your Favorite Meal
How many times have you asked your kids or partner what they want to eat, and then cooked what they requested? If you’re the main cook in the household, it’s probably more times than you can count, but when was the last time you ate something you wanted to eat?
Once you ask yourself that question, it’s a hard one to ignore because, most of the time, you’ll be thinking of other people and not really doing what you want. So, if you want to treat yourself, why not cook your favorite meal and don’t ask what the rest of the family wants? Cooking in itself can be therapeutic, and when you’re cooking something you know you love – perhaps something that has some great memories attached – it’s definitely a treat.
Read A Good Book
Sometimes all you need for a treat is some quiet time to yourself with a good book, and if that sounds like paradise, that’s what you need to aim for. The best thing to do is to make sure you have a cozy corner or nook to snuggle up in and get comfy so you can make the most of any spare time you might have to read.
Even if you only have a few minutes, reading is a simple but very effective way to unwind, de-stress, and treat yourself.
