Do you want to make an Easter cake, but don’t know how?

I have a very simple easy to make Easter Bunny cake for you.  I made it as easy as I could so that anyone that want’s to make it can! 🙂

First step is to get all of your ingredients together to make your cake.

I am making this simple so all you need is:

For the cake:

A boxed cake, and the ingredients for it, and a round pan!  *Tip: When using eggs if you let them sit out for 5-10 minutes before mixing with your cake they mix easier.

Follow the directions to bake your cake, and when it is cooked you should be able to put a toothpick in the cake, and it will come out clean when you pull it out.

Let your cake cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes, and then cool it on a wire rack for an hour or until it is cool to the touch.

Now on to decorating!!

GEDC0231 What you need:

  1. 1 round cake cooled.
  2. Jelly beans for eyes and nose. ( I used a pink Robins egg for this nose).
  3. Green food coloring.
  4. 1 bag of coconut.
  5. 1 big ziploc bag.
  6. 4 cups of icing or 3 containers of icing from the store. To make your own icing click here for instructions.
  7. 3 stir straws cut in half for whiskers and 1 stir straw to use for mouth.
  8. 1 piece of pink construction paper for ears.
  9. A cookie sheet, and aluminum foil.

Decorating Time!

Now that you have everything ready! Place the aluminum foil on your cookie sheet and set aside.

Pour half of your coconut into the ziploc bag with green food coloring.

Shake the bag until all the coconut is green for the grass.

Cut your round cake in half, and ice the two halves together, cut side down, and bottom(flat) halves together.

Place your cut and iced cake, cut side down on your cookie sheet.

*Tip if you want a smaller cake just use one half of your round cake!

Next: I just plop the icing on top, and spread it around the entire cake.

Once the cake is covered add more icing to make it look “fluffy”.

You can also add some white coconut to make it look fluffy.

Add A round ball of icing to one side of the cake to make a bunny tail, and add coconut on top of tail for fluffy look.

Make the Face!

Once you are done icing the cake add the Jelly bean eyes, and nose.

After you have the nose, and eyes in, cut the 3 stir straws in half to create whiskers 3 on each side of the nose.

Use another stir straw cut into 2 smaller pieces to create the mouth.

*Tip: If you don’t have the stir straws you can use spaghetti noodles broken into pieces for the whiskers.

For the ears!

Cut a piece of construction paper into bunny ears, and place them on the cake right before serving.

The oil in the icing will cause the paper to soak up oil, and look wet.

To get the ears to stay in place push a little icing right behind them.

Now place your colored coconut around your bunny, add some jelly beans & voila ready to serve!

To make a smaller cake only use 1 half of your round cake instead of both halves.

Great job. I loved the way you included pictures throughout. Only suggestion would be that you point out when you cut cake in half and then glue it together with icing that you are gluing the big sides togeter with the two cut sides down on the pan. Some of us are kind of slow and we need every detail pointed out.
