Recently, Joy and I discovered Nella the Princess Knight on Nick Jr. and we are crazy about the show. As a mom of multicultural children, I love that Nella is not the traditional princess we’ve seen in the past. Although she has girly girl characteristics, when she puts on her sword, shield and boots she transforms into a compassionate, brave, and adventurous Princess Knight. You can watch Nella the Princess Knight weekdays on the Nick Jr. channel.
Growing up, there were not very many strong girl leads, therefore, I’m ecstatic that there is finally a princess, my daughter can identify with. What’s more, the show encourages young girls to believe in themselves.
Nella the Princess Knight promotes self-confidence, courage, and determination which reinforces the ideas my husband and I are teaching our daughter at home. Since we’ve been watching the show a lot, I decided to make Joy a Nella the Princess Knight inspired T-Shirt. I thought I would share the DIY with you.
Please feel free to share with your friends or pin it on Pinterest
What you’ll need to make our Nella the Princess Knight inspired T-Shirt
- Purple, Green, White, Gold Tulip Hot Fix Glass Crystals
- T-shirt Pattern ( Download Here)
- Pink or White T-shirt
- Black Glitter Iron-on Vinyl
- Iron
- Cricut Explore Air ( not required)
- 1 sheet of 8 ½ by 11 card stock
Step 1 – Using 1 sheet of 8 ½ by 11 cardstock cut out an 8 1/2″ by 6 1/2″ piece, to apply self-grip mate and load into your machine. Please Note: The system will cut the crown in three parts. I removed all of the pieces from my cutting board. Then I went in and added the inside of pieces Princess Nella Crown back into my template card by joining them together with a few pieces of scotch tape.
Step 2 – Next, using the Black Glitter Iron-on Vinyl cut out a 5 1/2″ by 4 1/2″ piece. Then with the shiny side facing up apply onto the self-grip mate and load into your machine. ( Please note turn on the mirroring option when printing out your vinyl piece.
Step 3 – Place your Rhinestone template on your t-shirt and lightly outline onto your shirt. Next position the lettering and iron one. (Please place your letters with the clear side facing down. To keep each item in place, I like to tape the letters down it tape)
Step 4 – Then Iron on your letter following the directions available on the packaging.
Step 5 – Finally, lay your rhinestone template over the letters and use as a guide to place your stones.
I hope you enjoy making our Nella the Princess Knight inspired T-Shirt and it encourages your little diva to be their sparkly best!
