When you are designing your child’s bedroom, you have to consider a lot of factors. Not only do you have to think about the colors that they like, and whether or not it’s whimsical and enlightening for them to be in there, you have to consider how they will sleep. For example, you probably wouldn’t have a bedroom decorated in loud and garish colors if you know that it’s going to disturb them from falling asleep at night.
You need to create a calming space and it doesn’t matter whether you know how to create a Montessori bedroom or not, you can still make the space a calming and happy place for your child to be. Don’t forget, our bedroom is not just for sleeping. It’s for playing and for hanging out and for general relaxation as well. You want to make sure that you create a bedroom that gives you the best possible results for their mental and physical and emotional well-being. So here are the tips that you need to design A calm children’s bedroom.
- Choose colors that will calm your child down. As we talked about, garish colors are not the one. You want to choose soft colors like greens and Blues that are calm. A green or blue colour palette will work very well in the bedroom. Primary colors are lovely, but choose the pastel versions of all of them. So you’re looking at blue-green, red and yellow, but pastel versions so that the room looks and feels soft and inviting.
- Clean out the space. Your child’s bedroom is going to be so much more inviting when it’s not cluttered.Making it neat and tidy can have a calming effect instantly, in the same way that it does when your office is clean and tidy. You know that a cluttered desk makes for a cluttered mind, and it’s the same when it comes to your child’s sleep. If you want them to be able to sleep in their bedroom, you don’t want it to be too cluttered or too busy.
- Create individual zones for their bedroom. A calm children’s bedroom has a zone for everything. You need a zone for relaxation and sleep, and you need a zone for play. Time colors should be the right colors for the right zones. For example, yellow is a great one for use for study and play, and blue is a great one for sleep. If you use different coloured zones throughout the room, you can divide the measure into different areas for different functions that make sense.
- Keep it dark. A calm children’s bedroom is one that reminds them of the womb with noise machines to replicate the white noise, sound and darkness. From the blinds that you hang, you can make sure that you are replicating an environment that they feel safe and happy in.
