I don’t even know what to say as I’m still processing the rollercoaster of emotions I’ve gone through after watching this movie. Lost for words, in a good way. This is it guys, this is the climax of something like none other that has been building up for the last ten years. Because of this fact, it feels wrong to critique this movie in particular. It feels more like the season finale to a ten year long series. The movie’s runtime is 3 hours and it did certainly feel like it to me, but not in a bad way. The film felt very conclusive and didn’t really open up a path for what’s next, but instead honored the path that brought us all here in the first place, which I liked.
I was surprised to find that there isn’t a huge amount of action packed into the three hours of runtime. More surprised that this didn’t really bother me. I found that even the slightly slow parts in the film were substantial to the story and the character’s development. Our original six Avengers all had their opportunities to shine. Furthermore, the movie goes extra lengths to pay homage to the first three phases in the credits, so it’s safe to say that the Russo Brothers wanted to celebrate the massive success of the MCU, and give tons of fan service to those of us who have been watching since Iron Man.
This time around, the movie focuses more on our core Avengers more than Thanos himself, like they did in Infinity War. There is just so much going on in these three hours that I don’t know how any newcomer fan can come in and enjoy this film to it’s fullest extent. If you’re thinking the Avengers will stand behind Captain Marvel and let her sort everything out for them, you’re wrong. They actually use Captain Marvel in this film a lot less than I thought they would, but even in her limited time, it was clear that she is a juggernaut.
The film leaves me in this weird limbo where I feel excited for what’s to come next but sad that things will never be the same. This movie has everything most people are looking for, especially when it comes to a superhero film or action movie. I’ve been patiently waiting as other people get to finally see this movie because I’m about ready to implode. Just like Tony and Thanos, I’m cursed with knowledge.
Well, there you have it guys! I apologize for the vagueness of this post, it was really important to me that I didn’t spoil anything to you guys. It’s mandatory that you all go see this film this weekend. Even if you’re new to the MCU, go binge some MCU movies and then see it this weekend ( similar to what I’m doing with Game of Thrones). Don’t forget to tell us what you thought about the movie on social media, we do read your guys’ comments.
Until Next Time.
