Disney’s new film “Ralph Breaks the Internet” is hands down a movie the whole family will enjoy. I loved how filmmakers brought the internet to life from the building that represents corporations such as Facebook and Wikipedia to the pop up box from spam ads that we don’t like. The technology used in the films is absolutely amazing. What’s more, I found the beautiful, Gal Gadot, character Shank a pleasant addition to the over all story line.
Ralph Breaks the Internet held my daughter interest from beginning to end and I appreciated the life lesson Disney included in the film. I was blessed to attend the press conference for Ralph Breaks The Internet where the cast shared what they hope kids will take away from seeing the film, that I though I would share.
Here a 3 Lesson’s Kids Will Learn from Ralph Breaks The Internet
1) False Love
Our relationship to this technology, its power, and its effect on us, we don’t even quite understand yet. It’s as powerful as like a nuclear bomb. But it uses other means… I hope kids are entertained and feel like this story relates to them. And that they recognize some of their own friendships in these characters. … And I think this idea of chasing after anonymous love, these hearts. In our movie, these hearts. Or this idea that kids are reaching out for acceptance from people they don’t know. And how that’s ultimately kind of an empty feeling. I hope that kids come away with that aha moment… Which is like why do I do that? Why do I want to do that? Because that’s the first step to really understanding a situation… ~ John C. Reilly
2) Friendships Change
One of the things I hope they think about is when you have to start a new school or your friendships change and you move into a new place, that fear that you have. That everything will be different and you’ll never know those friends again… No matter how old you get, you move into a new place and you meet new friends. And you don’t have to lose your old ones. ~ Pamela Ribon
3) You Are Not Alone
When I was a kid, I always liked films that made me realize I’m not the only one that does these kind of things or feels this way… As a kid, when I would see a movie where I saw a character going through the same things that I was, it made me feel like okay, I’m not alone. Movie Synopsis
In “Ralph Breaks the Internet,” video-game bad guy Ralph (voice of John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (voice of Sarah Silverman) leave the comforts of Litwak’s arcade in an attempt to save her game, Sugar Rush. Their quest takes them to the vast, uncharted world of the internet where they rely on the citizens of the internet—the Netizens—to help navigate their way. Lending a virtual hand are Yesss (voice of Taraji P. Henson), the head algorithm and the heart and soul of the trend-making site “BuzzzTube,” and Shank (voice of Gal Gadot), a tough-as-nails driver from a gritty online auto-racing game called Slaughter Race, a place Vanellope wholeheartedly embraces—so much so that Ralph worries he may lose the only friend he’s ever had.
