If you are a homeschool mom like myself, and you are looking for fun activities to do with the kids this summer, I truly believe Ghost Town Alive in Knott’s Berry Farm is one of the best homeschool field trips in Southern California. What’s more? It’s open all summer long from June to September on select days.

As you can tell, my family and I love Knott’s Berry Farm and we have been blessed to attend almost all of their annual events. However, Knott’s Berry Farm’s Ghost Town Alive will take your little one on an adventure back in time to the wild, Wild West!

Joy and I started our day in Calico by picking up a newspaper from the Calico Gazette.

As we read the town newspaper highlighting the events of the day, Joy and I were excited for what would be in store. I wanted to go play bingo in Town Square. Since Joy loves to dance, she wanted to attend the afternoon ho down. However, our plans where a bit delayed when we stumbled across the news of two bandits that were on trial for trying to rob Calico bank!

Being a bit curious, we decided to head over to City Hall to listen in on the trial. Although the villain’s pleas to the crowd were compelling, they were found guilty and the Mayor of Calico decided their fate.

Once the trial was over, Joy assisted one of the townsfolk with a speech he was writing he planned to present to the people of Calico.

We then headed off to class for an afternoon session and the teacher gave Joy gold as a reward for good behavior.
Of course, Joy took it straight to the banker to add to her savings.

During our visit to Calico, Joy learned how they washed clothes by hand, delivered packages, and dropped by the stables to visit the horses.

Ghost Town Alive is filled with so much to do, and by the end of our day, Joy was tuckered out.

That didn’t stop us from going to see Beach Blanket Beagle debuting this summer in the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. This musical dance party set to the classic beach comber tunes of the 60’s and 70’s, stars the coolest beagle around, Snoopy! Showing select days June 9 – August 19.

We ended our day riding all the rides at Camp Snoopy.

At Ghost Town Alive, your child can visit the beloved town of Calico and experience an authentic western adventure by becoming an honorary citizen of Calico. A place where you and your child can unlock adventures through specific tasks, participate in fun activities, and have an essential role as an honorary citizen of Calico. Hands down, I think this is one of the best events at Knott’s and I highly recommend doing this as a Homeschool field trip this summer!!!!

Ghost Town Alive is complete with bandits, cowboys, robberies, judges, a good ol’ western hoedown, and much more!  It runs on select days now through September 3.
