Wonder Woman, the latest hero to get the live action film treatment, is the best DC movie to hit theaters since The Dark Knight. Now I’m not saying Wonder Woman is worse or better than the 2008 classic; it’s just significantly better than the last four DC live action films. I love the use of slow motion in this movie, I love the villains in this film, and I think Gal Gadot was the perfect casting for Wonder Woman. Furthermore, Chris Pine has the best timing and delivery I’ve seen in a while; he brings so much to the flick.
So, without out of the way, here are 3 Lessons Young Women Will Learn From Wonder Woman:
Fight For What’s Right: Throughout many occasions in the film Wonder Woman is continuously oppressed when it came to helping others in need and doing what’s right all because “it wasn’t part of the mission.” On war-torn lands, Gal Gadot’s character is the only person who has a sense of nourishment for the refugees of battle and the wounded townspeople, so she decides to help them regardless of what other people tell her to do. I think behavior like this coming from a heroine like Wonder Woman will inspire younger women to follow their moral compass and help people in need despite their dignity or pride.
Always Tell The Truth: As a lot of us know, Wonder Woman wields the lasso of truth which forces whoever is bound by it, to tell the truth. I think this lesson is a good reminder of a common rule in every household, as the truth always comes out. I know my mom didn’t need a lasso of truth, she’d just give me a cold look when she knew I was up to something, best believe that.
Lead The Way For Others: Chris Pine and Gal Gadot’s characters are both great examples of this lesson. Chris’ character in the movie shares his belief that “in this world, you can either choose to do nothing, or choose to do something, and I’ve already tried nothing.” Meanwhile, while every man was afraid to cross the battlefront of World War 1, Wonder Woman led the way with her shield which rallied the soldiers around her to push by her side. This is an excellent example of leadership for young women and all people really, as it reminds us not to sit and wait for someone to act, but to put the situation in our hands instead.
Wonder Woman sprints her way into theaters Friday, June 2nd so don’t miss it!
Just a heads up, there are some adult scenes throughout the film, so viewer discretion is advised for anyone younger than 13. So there you have it guys! Wonder Woman is a great night out with the family and is packed with excellent scenes, great dialogue, and extraordinary characters which make me really excited about what the DC cinematic universe has in store for us.
