It was a sunny California afternoon, the wind blowing, with a shared excitement amongst my family to finally get to see the show we’ve recently watched every episode of, The Wall. The Wall is a game show that gives great people a chance at winning even greater cash. From what I’ve seen, most of the contestants in the series are people who do wonderful things for their community, which I think is really cool. Anywho, my family and I arrive at Warner Brothers Studios in Burbank where we’d then have to hike throughout the lot to get to our destination. From what I experienced, it wasn’t that busy, and it was a lot more calm and peaceful than what I imagined. We made it to the conference room our contact greeted us in where we enjoyed a couple of sandwiches and snacks, etc. before it was finally time to see the set of the show.

Before I walked on the stage, I took note of the movies filmed on the stage before The Wall. The films that caught my eye immediately were Jurassic Park, Ghostbusters ( the good one ), Indiana Jones, and even Karate Kid ( again, the good one ). Behind the gigantic wall, you see on television lies a bunch of boxes of equipment, monitors, cameras all around. Typically everything you’d expect from a set behind the scenes.

When everyone attending the show arrived, the crew was testing the color changes of the wall from blue to green to red, and it was dazzling. Before the show started, the families invited got to play a small game for charity, and our family raised more than a few hundred dollars for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

The show begun with Chris Hardwick walked out onto the stage, and the crowd erupted with cheers and excitement, then Chris introduced the couple playing for that screening for the night. One thing that was very fascinating for me was getting a chance to see all of the production behind what will only air for an hour. I was at this screening for somewhere between 3-4 hours, and it opened my eyes to how tough the editor’s job must be, or everyone’s job. Heck, there were camera guys climbing rope ladders behind me, without a harness and guys practically sprinting behind the stage. On top of all of this, everyone was taking multiple takes of their lines, especially Chris. It showed me that being a host of a show isn’t just an aesthetically pleasing face with a voice; it’s an actual job.

So the show had finally come to a close, my eyes wandered all around the stage before exiting, and that’s when my family began the debate of where we should have dinner. My mom, you all know as Mrs. Kathy King wanted Brazilian bbq, but I didn’t want unneeded bowel movements, so I picked a very popular burger joint in LA called Umami Burger, you guys should check it out, great food.

With all that being said, NBC’s The Wall airs Monday nights at 10/9pm Central. My family and I have watched every single, so I highly recommend it to anyone who’s into trivia-based game shows. Plus, I love Chris Hardwick, he’s a great host with a better sense of relatability and humanity which brings a great element to the show.

From Executive Producer and NBA superstar LeBron James comes “The Wall,” the fastest and simplest game with more than $12 million on the line every night – and up to $3 million on a single heart-stopping drop. At four stories high, the wall was built for one purpose – to change people’s lives. With tremendous cash prizes waiting at the bottom, this game can change lives in an instant.  Hosted and executive produced by actor, comedian, author and TV personality Chris Hardwick, “The Wall” offers a pair of teammates life-altering cash prizes.
