Smurfs The Lost Village is the latest installation in the series with a brand new look and an all-star cast starring Demi Lovato, Joe Manganiello, Danny Pudi, Jack McBrayer and Ariel Winter. This film tells the tale of Smurfette’ and her journey to a new Smurfs civilization with the help of Brainy, Hefty, and Clumsy Smurf. Throughout the movie, there are a few lessons evident in the midst of all the colorful animation that has specific messages for our younger women to hear. Now, adults and parents, I know what you’re thinking. What’s in it for me? Lucky for you all, there are a few hidden Easter eggs to look for if you grew up with the show, and a few jokes younger viewers won’t pick up.

Let’s get into it!

Here are 3 Lessons Girls Will Learn From Smurfs The Lost Village:

Find Yourself: In the earlier stages of the film, Brainy tests Smurfette to see what her gimmick is. As we all know, Brainy is smart, Hefty is strong, and Clumsy is well… clumsy. So what is Smurfette? As Smurfette comes to terms with who she is, I think she uses a lot of practices that are healthy for young viewers to try out themselves. She accepts who she is and later finds pride about herself, even though she’s different from all the other Smurfs, and that brings us to our next lesson.

Dare To Be Different: Our main characters conclude that Smurfette is a little bit of everything and that she doesn’t have a gimmick like everyone else in the Smurf’s village, and they’re okay with this! This part of the film shows it’s viewers that it’s okay to part from the herd or mainstream ideologies. Younger viewers who are ridiculed for being different can look to Smurfette in this film and maybe cope with their differences. The story tells us it’s okay to be a nerd, jock, or even a little clumsy. Just be you.

Girls Are Stronger In Unison: Smurfette finds a village of female Smurfs, and together they kick tons of Gargamel heinie. Not only this but they have lots of fun together as well, and this sends a good message to younger females that women are strong when united, and the whole demeanor of the film carries that vibe as well.

Overall, Smurfs The Lost Village is a great viewing option for families. Let’s sweep the two live action Smurf movies under the carpet; they never happened, okay? This movie is much better, and it’s Smurfs done the right way. Again, this cast is star-studded, on top of the names I already mentioned, Michelle Rodriguez, Rainn Wilson, Ellie Kemper, and Julia Roberts all contribute to the laughs and fun as well. And of course, with every film, there are lessons to be learned, and that’s definitely something Smurfs The Lost Village has to offer,

Until Next Time
