What do you get when you add an easy Christmas chocolate recipe with a cute printable snowman advent calendar, equals a lifetime of memories in my home.
I will be completely honest; sometimes it’s been extremely hard for me to be in a festive mood. After my father had passed away and Matt took on three jobs to try to support our family. So, I spent most of my time alone and I felt lost in the world. The little time Matt was home he tried to cheer me up by bringing me fresh picks flowers or my favorite sweet treat. However, nothing worked. By the time Christmas came around, I truly was not in the mood to celebrate, however, I did not want my kid’s memories of the first Christmas without their grandfather, to be mommy crying over wine and burnt turkey.
So, to create a beautiful memory for them, I focused my have’s; not my have not’s. I thought I would share with you 3 new traditions; I started with my family to create a meaningful and joyous holiday.
1) We made a tradition of making Christmas chocolates for gifts, parties or Santa.
I love making handmade gifts for my friends and baking cookies for Santa. Since Santa, a bit tired of the premade frozen cookie I make and I want to be more creative with Joy. I made a delicious Honeycomb® Christmas chocolates that are fun, festive and Santa Approved.
Honeycomb® Christmas Chocolates Recipe:
Ingredients
-4 cups of Honeycomb® cereal
-10 oz Candy Melts White (see melting instructions on box)
-1 bag of Red & Green Milk Chocolate Candies
-Premade Royle Icing
Wax Paper
Here’s how to make our easy Christmas Chocolates
Step 1
Crumble up the Honeycomb® cereal into a large mixing bowl. Next, add 1 to 2 cups of red & green Milk Chocolate candies, pour in half of the melted chocolate mixed all of the ingredients. Next, line the cookie sheet with wax paper and spread out the mixture. Place in the freezer for 15 to30 minutes.
Step 2
Take the mixture out of the freezer and break into bite size pieces. Please note the pieces will be uneven and you will have some pieces that are not big enough for the next step. I placed those pieces in a bag for my son Houston to take to school.
Step 3
Dip the bite-size pieces in chocolate and place in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes.
Step 4
Make Christmas holly decorations using the remaining red & green Milk Chocolate candies and premade Royle Icing.
Enjoy :)!!!!
2) I like to build excitement around the holiday by using a printable snowman advent calendar filled with all the little things that make my daughter Joy smile.
The boys and I would make a chain with 25 links out of red and green construction paper and hang it on their bedroom door. As they grew older, they feel in love with legos and I began purchasing lego Advent Calenders. Now that our daughter Joy is here we wanted an Advent Calendar that was centered around her interest. So Matt made her a printable snowman advent calendar and we filled each box with items we found at our local dollar store.

3)During the hustle and bustle, I like to take the kids to see a movie so we can just relax for a bit.
To kick off the kids’ winter vacations by taking them out to the movies. This season, why not take the kids to see a movie.
