WOW. What a film. Let me start off by saying Doctor Strange is possibly the best Marvel film to date. I’m serious you guys, every time you think the Marvel Cinematic Universe can’t get any better, it does. Doctor Strange is like a kaleidoscope of things that were deemed impossible to produce on the big screen. One of the most quotable lines in the film is “forget everything you think you know,” and let me tell ya; that line is the theme itself for the movie.
Before I get too carried away, I have to give Marvel props for giving us a seemingly overpowered hero while at the same time showing he has some weakness. Now, I know what you’ve come here for…. here is
3 Life Lessons You’ll Learn From Doctor Strange:
You’re Capable of More Than You Think: Doctor Strange, who entered the dojo of Mystic Arts as a ‘normal person’ quickly sprouts into arguably the most powerful being in the MCU. The Ancient One, Stephen’s mentor, encourages him to unlock his true potential despite his transparent arrogance. To see Doctor Strange rebound from a very low point in his life is something I found to be very inspiring.
Listen to Understand, Not to Respond: Before Doctor Strange became one with the Mystic Arts his ego forbid him from learning how to better himself at first. Sometimes, especially when in a heated argument it’s best just to listen than to be hostile, and I think that’s a message that’s projected throughout multiple scenes. During a time where the nation seems divided, I believe this point came at the right time and is probably the most important.
Sometimes You Don’t Succeed at First: Without giving too much away, Doctor Strange boasts the ability to travel back in time, so you can already imagine where I’m going with this. Sometimes when we make mistakes, we wish we could go back in time and fix them. In Doctor Strange, we see Stephen take both routes to fixing an issue, whether it’s traveling back in time to fix your wrong doings, or dealing with the mistake and building on it that way. Surprisingly enough, Stephens best option was just to deal with his mistakes, and he realized that sometimes a second effort is necessary at some point during the movie.
I do apologize if I seem to be overhyping this film, but as soon as you get to see it for yourself, I think you’ll understand my excitement. Doctor Strange is easily the most ambitious film Marvel has released to date and pushes the limits further than we’ve ever seen visually. Furthermore, this film carries the potential to be a very fun night out with family or friends at the movie theaters. Oh, and don’t forget to stay after the credits for two bonus clips.
Until Next Time
