I was introduced to Ratchet and Clank via their first video game, ‘Tools of Destruction’ on PlayStation 3 in October of 2007, when I was looking for a safe and family-friendly video game for my boys to play. The game quickly became one of my sons’ favorite games, and we went on to purchase every game in the Ratchet & Clank game trilogy.
On April 29, 2016, Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment bring ‘Ratchet & Clank’ to life on the big screen in an all-new CG-animated movie based on the iconic PlayStation video game. Head to a theater near you and watch as the two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.
Keep Dreaming:
James Arnold Taylor dreamed of being a voice actor since he was four years old.
New Territory:
If you are Rachet & Clank fan, you are already aware James Arnold Taylor voiced the character in the video game. Although, he’s voiced numerous characters including Fred Flintstone, he uses his regular voice for Rachet’s character.
“The funniest thing for me being the character of Ratchet is using my
regular voice.” ~ James Arnold Taylor
BELLA THORNE (Cora)
Not So Glamorous:
Most of us are used to seeing the beautiful and multi-talented Bella Thorne in the most fashionable attire. However, when she’s home relaxing, she’s very much a tomboy.
“I’m a super tomboy; you probably can’t tell from the way I’m dressed, but in my personal life, I definitely wear what my Character Cora wears in the movie.” ~ Bella Thorne
Super Creative:
Bella is a talented film actress, an incredible dancer and now she voices an animated movie. Through it all, what she loves the most about working in films is the creative process behind it.
“My goal is to have my first self-directed short film premiere at South By Southwest next year and hopefully some other festivals. I love the creative process. One thing about this film was this character was already created when I came in, so that was fun and interesting. But I would love to do some more live action animation, where I actually get to go behind the scenes and literally create this character, because anything behind the scenes, to me, is just so cool”. ~ Bella Thorne
KEVIN MUNROE (Director; Screenplay)
First Draft:
After a long trilogy of successful Ratchet and Clank video games, Director and Screenplay Writer, Kevin Munroe, was inspired to bring the two characters to life with their own animated movie through a well written first draft by T. J Fixman.
“I didn’t write the first draft; it was written by T.J. Fixman. Who actually worked in the video games, I think, for over 10 years. He had a fantastic first draft that was filled with so many characters, and so much story, that my job was basically just to find the movie we were telling within that content.” ~ Kevin Munroe
