Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving are especially behind us, it’s time to start getting ready for the most anticipated holiday of the year, Christmas. We took a trip out to Knotts’ Merry Farm so we could check out what they have in store for this holiday season.
Calico Saloon Christmas Show
For this year, Knotts’ presented an interpretation of the Nutcracker performed by dancers of various ages. The older dancers were truly talented, and the younger ones were absolutely adorable. It’s not every day that you get to see such a fun exposition of ballet, with a classic story, no less.
Tip 1 – I would recommend this for your older children, as it might be difficult to get a toddler to sit through the entire thing without squirming or lossing interest.
Christmas Time is Here, Charlie Brown
Camp Snoopy is always the perfect place to take your toddler during a trip to Knotts’. For their Knotts’ Merry Farm entertainment, they put on “Christmas Time is Here, Charlie Brown” at the Camp Snoopy Theatre. For those of you with young toddlers, this the perfect first stop of the day, especially since it’s right by the entrance. The show itself is interactive, and your kids can play along with bells that are handed out and fun questions posed to the audience. Linus, Lucy, Charlie and Snoopy, everyone’s favorite cartoon pooch, all make an appearance to explore the true meaning of Christmas.
Tip 2 – Afterwards, take your young ones to the left so they can get a picture with Snoopy in front of his decked-out doghouse and other recreations of the cartoon.
Snoopy’s Merriest Tree Lighting
Tip 3 – If you want to make it to this exciting show at the Calico Square Stage, we suggest getting there as early as possible so you can get a good spot. There is only standing area for this event, but if you get there early you might be able to sit on the barricades that are in front of the stage.
The show consisted of more performances from their skilled dancers, and ended with an appearance from Mr. Klaus himself, who oversaw the final lighting of the tree. Much like the Camp Snoopy show, there was a lot of engagement with the audience, especially at a point when the elves went through the crowd to find all the children who had been nice this year. It’s a wonderful opportunity for your young ones to get into the Christmas spirit and see Santa.
Merry Christmas, Snoopy! Ice Show
Of all the events we checked out that day, the ice show was definitely the highlight of the evening.
Tip 4 – It’s extremely popular, so we would suggest getting to the line at least an hour early so you can get a good spot. If you have young children, we suggest sitting them in the aisle seats, so they can play in the fake snow that comes down periodically.
The ice skaters were amazing professionals, and it was a fantastic showcase of their talents. There was dancing, spinning and impressive flips as the skaters flew this was and that. The show is long and has something for people of all ages, so we would say it’s definitely worth the wait.
Santa’s Christmas Cabin
The Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town is home to Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the holiday season. Indulge in holiday delights like Santa’s homemade cookies, the new boysenberry and Nutella crêpe, eggnog, winter wine, craft beer, and hot chocolate tastings, and more.
Tip 4 – Santa’s Cabin it another popular spot for this event and cabin can get very crowded. Therefore, we sugguest you making this your last stop of the night. There is a beauiful display where you can take a picture with Santa Claus and they allow you to take pictures your cell or you can purchase pictures. as well. Afterwards, you can treat the kids to some festive desserts.
