Knott’s Merry Farm is one of the best Christmas events in California. Especially, if you have a family with kids whose ages vary, like mine. Since 1985, from November to January, deco out the park with lavish holiday decorations, live entertainment, festive food and of course shops filled with wonderland filled with local artisans.
This year, I took my daughter Joy to Knott’s Berry Farm and she loved it. The event is wonderful for the entire. However, I wanted to share with you a few key points. That will make your experience even more enjoyable, if you have a toddler in the group.
The 3 Best Shows!
There’s several great shows at the event but here’s my top choice if you’re going to Knott’s Merry Farm with a Toddler.
New! Merry Christmas on Ice Show:
This show kept Joy’s attention from beginning to end. What make this show so exciting for little ones, is it’s whimsical, charming and filled with amazing skating routines. Snoopy and the Peanuts takes you through all of the best parts of the season, including trimming the Christmas tree, awaiting Santa’s arrival, and attending the festive Christmas Ball!
Tip #1: The show is held in the 2,100 seat Charles M. Schulz Theatre and there’s always a line. So plan to get to the show 30 minutes early.
Lucy’s Wish List:
The show is in Camp Snoopy therefore, I would recommend this be the first one you see. Plus you get to spend some time enjoying the rides in Camp Snoopy. Joy join in to the holiday fun and sing and dancing as she watched Charlie Brown, Linus and this live show.
Tip #2: Sit on the right side of the stage close to the back because afterwards you can avoid the crowd and head right next door to the Peanuts Meet and Greet Area to take a picture with your child’s favorite character.
Snoopy’s Merriest Tree Lighting:
When the sun sets on the Farm, Calico Stage lights up with the celebration of the season in Snoopy’s Merriest Tree Lighting. Join the cast of Toy Soldiers, Snowmen, Elves and the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy for the whimsical tree lighting.
Tip #3: This show is standing room only. So for the best view you really have to be in the front. Get there about 30 minutes early afterwards you can catch a ride on Engine 41 located right next door to the show.
Rides and Attractions!
Camp Snoopy:
Camp Snoopy has over 30 rides and attractions for toddler and their parents to enjoy.. Kids can race in stock cars, fly planes, drive a bus, cruise in their very own 18-wheeler and enjoy countless other pint-sized thrills.
Tip #4: It’s very easy to lose track of time hanging out in Camp Snoopy and it closes at dusk. Therefore, make this the first place on your list to go and plan see Lucy’s Wish List show early in the day. After the show venture out to the other areas of the park.
Christmas on Engine 14:
The Ghost Town and Calico Railroad is pulling out of the station. So come aboard and experience a Calico Christmas with your little one! There’s a whole cast of characters ready to brighten your holidays with Christmas cheer and traveling adventures.
Tip #5: If you do Engine 14 after the Tree Lighting. Once you are finished with your ride head over to Ghost Town Main Street. Every night during Merry Farm they filled this area with snow and thousands of sparkling lights dance to the beat of “Let it Snow”. It’s really a beautiful sight that your little one will adore.
The Star of the Night!
Santa’s Christmas Cabin:
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without visiting Santa Claus. The Wilderness Dance Hall in Ghost Town becomes home to Santa’s Christmas Cabin for the holiday season. Join Santa for homemade cookies and hot chocolate or egg nog. Also, there’s a beautiful display where you take pictures with Santa Claus.
Tip #6: The later you go to visit Santa’s Christmas Cabin the better chance you have of avoiding the crowds.
