On July 17, Marvel is returning with their next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and brings a founding member of The Avengers to the big screen for the first time with Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man”, starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas. Loaded with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang must embrace his inner-hero and helps his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym, protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. I thought it would be neat to share with you a few Marvel Ant-Man fun facts about the cast.

1) Up For A Challenge
What excited Paul Rudd the most about taking the role as Ant-Man was having the challenge of doing a role that was different from any other role he has done.
2) Computer-Generated
Corey Stoll (Darren Cross / Yellowjacket ) spent hours working out in order to look perfect in his Yellowjacket suit. However, after trying to create a suit that would be practical, it was not working. Instead, they decided to create the Yellowjacket costume completely with CGI.
3) Not So Animated
Director Peyton Reed spent hours working with his visual effects supervisor Jake Morrison to figure out the right angle for the shots, the appropriate lenses to use and worked with Skywalker Sound to create the sound within the microenvironments, in order, to achieve a realistic world that did not seem animated.
4) Girl Power
The most exciting thing about playing the role of Hope van Dyne, for Evangeline Lilly was being able to be a superhero without having a costume or superpowers and was still a very powerful force to be reckoned with. As stated by Evangeline Lilly “My super-suit was my power suit that I would go to work in, be a high-level scientist and,on of the board of a very powerful corporation. I think that is a fantastic example for young women”.
5) Emotional Connection
Although the movie is filled with action, humor and brilliant visuals effects, the father-daughter aspect of Marvel “Ant-Man” was the key point that Paul Rudd focus on for his role.
6) Club 9-25
Both Michael Douglas (Dr. Hank Pym) and “T.I.” Harris (Dave) celebrate their birthday on September 25.
7)Unfamiliar
Micheal Douglas was not familiar with Ant-Man before this movie, therefore to prepare for his role Producer Kevin Feige sent him two years of comic books in order to catch up on this history and background as he read the script.
