I love celebrating the holiday season with my family. However, getting my house prepared for all the festivities takes a lot of work, and I don’t have time to get sick. Nonetheless, for the past few years, I’ve come down with a bad cold or the Flu.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Vicks at Walmart. The opinions and text are all mine.

Through the years I’ve learned how to manage my cold and flu symptoms so I can enjoy the holidays with my family. Here’s are my 5 Tips on Surviving A cold or flu During the Holidays.

1) Get Some Rest
I have a crazy busy schedule and often times it hard for me to slow down. But, I’ve learned that once I start feeling the symptoms of a cold or flu coming on, the sooner I get some rest, the faster my body can battle the virus and heal.

2) Drink Lot’s of Liquids
Whenever the kids or I come down with a cold or flu, the first thing my hubby will do it stock our house with hot tea, fruit juices, ginger ale, chicken noodle soup and sports drinks to keep us hydrated and loosen the thick mucus. If I have a fever, he’ll fix me a hot hottie.

3) Keep over-the-counter medicine on hand

Through the years, I’ve always used Vicks products to help me get a hold of my symptoms because it relieves my congestions, clears my head and quickly alleviates the toughest cough, cold, and flu symptoms. Which ultimately helps me power-through my holiday planning. Right now you can stock up on Vicks products at Walmart with these awesome savings.

Right now you can stock up on Vicks products at Walmart with these awesome saving.

  • $1 off any Vicks product at Walmart (except drops, Sinex, and ZzQuil) – BrandSAVER coupon from the 11/25 newspaper
  • $1 off Vicks Nyquil at Walmart – iBotta offer
  • $0.75 off Vicks VapoDrops at Walmart – iBotta Offer
  • Bonus $1.25 rebate when you use both iBotta offers

4) Stay home and do your grocery shopping
When I have a cold or flu the worse thing I want to do is share it with others. Plus, as I mentioned above, it’s so important to rest. Therefore, I love to do my grocery shopping online using Walmart has Online Grocery Pickup. I simply place my order online at grocery.walmart.com, select my pickup time, and then my order is brought out to my car when I arrive. It’s truly a huge time saver and a service I use year round.

5) Take a Steam Bath

If I still feel a little stuffed up, I’ll take a steam bath. First, I shut the bathroom door and place a towel under the door. Then, I will let the shower run hot until the room fills with moist steam and I will just sit in the room breathing in the steam for about 10 or 15 mins. I find this very relaxing and it really helps my congestion.

I hope you find my 5 Tips on Surviving A cold or flu During the Holidays helpful! I would love for you to share your tips in the comments below.
