On January 29, Kung Fu Panda 3 is set for release in theaters everywhere. There are a ton of reasons to be excited about this movie, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the film during a trip to Dreamworks Studios. After the screening, we caught up with Kate Hudson (who does the voice of Mei Mei, a new character). During our interview we learned some fun facts about Kate Hudson. Here’s 5 Fun Facts about Kate Hudson
1) Kate’s First Cartoon
This was Hudson’s first time doing an animated film, and she was excited to try something new. “Anybody who’s an actor or performer, you know, that’s what we love,” she said. “The whole point is trying new things. I’m very excited about my nunchuck sounds. My ninja sounds were really fun.” Her character, Mei Mei is a funny, female foil to Jack Black’s goofy Po.
2) Instamom
Hudson is very active on the popular social media app, although she likes to keep her family one private. “I have a private Instagram account,” she said. “That’s where I actually do a lot of stuff with my kids because I don’t like putting too much of my kids on my public Instagram.”
3) Raising a Son
It’s no secret that Hudson has strong opinions when it comes to the role of women in the entertainment industry. It was interesting to hear how these views transferred over to her experiences as a parent. “I think the boys are being raised very differently now than [my] generation,” she said. “I think the younger generation has very strong mothers and It’s just a different dynamic in the household, I think.” She often outright tells her son Bing “You’re going to respect women” and adds, “I’m pretty silly with my kids. But I have a very low tolerance for when they’re impolite.”
4) Fabletics
Hudson says her popular clothing line is one of her favorite creations and excited about reaching out to more women through the new stores opening. “Honestly, one of the best projects and experiences I’ve ever had is creating Fabletics… It’s just been so much fun, and we have so much fun in the company.”
5) Balancing Act
As a working mother Kate Hudson has learned how to manage the two. When asked how does she balance work and her personal life. Her response was “I think every working woman has the same [challenge],“You just make it work, don’t you? ” She also added that she doesn’t believe there is any right way for a woman to work this balance out: “I’m a big proponent for women taking on more leadership roles… But, at the same time, I understand why a lot of women would rather just sort of focus on their children”
