4 Easy Ways To Organize Your Child’s Playroom

Children don’t come out of the womb knowing how to organize and keep spaces clean. It’s your job as their parent to show them the way. Over time, they’ll get the hang of it, but it all starts with one simple step: cleaning up the playroom.

This is the area with the most destruction. However, you can simplify cleaning it up. Here are four easy ways to organize your child’s playroom.

Speak Their Language

It’s not an organized playroom if you don’t have bins and containers. This is the easiest way to keep everything in order. Bins and containers are easier to move around and store away too. They don’t take up too much floor space, especially if you utilize the area to your advantage.

But here’s the trick. You need to label the containers and bins in a language they’ll understand. Words may not work if they’re very young. So go with images. If a bin or container holds blocks or dolls, make sure that’s the image on the label so that your child knows what toys belong inside.

Make Things Visual

Seeing is believing. Making things visual for your child will help them understand organizing better. Aside from the labels on the containers, consider using chalkboard paper inside their playroom. It will help keep the space more orderly.

You can write down a list of activities for them. The chalkboard also works to help them organize their thoughts. Encourage them to use it however they see fit. They might even form a habit of writing down tasks to complete, allowing them to incorporate them into their life.

Utilize the Space

Use the space of the playroom to your advantage. Even smaller rooms can become spacious if you design them properly. To keep things from ending up on the floor or stuck in a closet, place shelves on the walls. Not everything will fit in bins.

Make use of the doors too. Instead of using a shoe organizer for shoes, place some of their toys inside the pouches. Aside from repurposing the shoe organizer, you can use the bookshelf to your advantage too. Dedicate a few shelves to their knick-knacks.

Keep It Easy To Access

The most important tip you need to remember is to make things easy for them to access. This isn’t so that they can play and make a mess but so that they can put things back. Children bounce around from one favorite toy to the next.

The toys that have their attention at the moment need to be close to the ground. As their attention fluctuates, you’ll need to reorganize the locations of some of the toys. Whenever they finish playing, they can place the toys back in their place and not struggle to reach up high.

Your child’s playroom may look chaotic right now, but it’ll get better after using these four easy ways to organize it.
