It’s been such a long time since Justin and I have been on a vacation. We decided this summer we would spend some time with our daughter Imonni exploring everything that San Diago has to offer. The first on our list is La Jolla, CA. Here are 3 Tips on Getting The Most Out Of A Family Trip To La Jolla, CA.

Getting The Most Out Of A Family Trip To La Jolla, CA

Can you believe that the school year is almost over?  If you are like Us and most families, it’s a prime time to plan a vacation. when we are in the process of selecting a location to visit, one of the first details (and sometimes most challenging) is your travel destination. Ultimately, we want to select a place that everyone can enjoy. Although you have many options, perhaps a trip to La Jolla, California, would tickle your fancy. The SoCal city is the perfect place to take your partner, parents, and the kids and have a blast.

There’s no shortage of beach towns in sunny California. However, something about La Jolla stands out for family vacations. Whether you want to hit the beach, explore wildlife, visit museums, go shopping, indulge in delicious food, or simply enjoy time together in a new place, La Jolla has something for everyone. Continue reading for tips on making the most of your family getaway.

Book Your Stay Based On Amenities

La Jolla has many hotels and vacation rentals to accommodate your preferences and budget. As you start looking for a place to stay, opt for locations with plenty of amenities and onsite activities for guests to enjoy.

A hotel or vacation rental with multi-bedroom suites, a fully-equipped kitchen, a swimming pool, and a sports court is perfect for families that don’t have much money to spend on dining out and other activities. You can still get the experience of La Jolla without breaking the bank.

Find Family-Friendly Activities

While you could just visit La Jolla and see where the day takes you, it’s always good to have a few activities in mind. Think about your family’s interests. What are some things they enjoy doing or have expressed wanting to do? As you plan an itinerary, you want to ensure all bases are covered.

Of course, your trip isn’t complete without visiting one of La Jolla’s many beaches. However, there are other activities to keep you and your kiddos entertained all day. You can go on a kayak tour and get close to dolphins, visit exhibits at Balboa Park, explore sea life at the Birch Aquarium, or go hiking along with one of the city’s beautiful trails.

If that’s not enough excitement for one vacation, you’ll be pleased to know that La Jolla is located near some of the nation’s most popular amusement parks and zoos. You can spend the day at Sea World, Legoland, or the San Diego Zoo. Don’t hesitate to take advantage of the many family packages and admission discounts so you can make the most of your experience.

Schedule Time For Adult Fun

Yes, family vacations are about spending time with your kids, but sometimes mom and dad need a break. Schedule at least one day (or a few hours) where you, your partner, and other adult family members can have some grown-up fun. If you have a teenager or older relative with you, they can watch the younger children until you return. There’s also the option to search for trusted babysitters in the La Jolla area to lend you a helping hand.

You can go on a boat, food, city, or bike tour. Then, spend a few hours shopping at the many stores in downtown La Jolla. Next, broaden your horizons and explore the murals throughout the city or tour the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. Finally, head back to the hotel, change into something more upscale, spray on your Burberry Brit for women, and grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant or bar.

Most families don’t get the opportunity to travel often. So, when you have a chance to get away, you want it to be a memorable experience. Though there are plenty of places to travel with your loved ones this summer, why not give La Jolla, CA, a try? It’s a beautiful beach town with so many exciting things to see and do. No matter your budget or interests, you’ll find that La Jolla has everything you and your family need to have a great time.
