Who says video games are bad for children? After multiple acts of research, studies find that video games benefit the minds and health of our youth heavily; such as reduce stress and depression, and boost toddlers motor skills. Disney Art Academy has been a whole lot of fun for me, and I think it can be even more fun for your kids. Not only will they be having a blast, but they will learn a lot about the psychology and methods used to create their favorite Disney characters like Olaf and Nemo. The longevity of the game is very solid as there are tens of art lessons in the game, as well as a free paint mode that allows users to create anything they like. With the little one in the family, Joy, we’ve also found that this keeps them occupied whenever we’re out and about because it’s played on the 3DS.

Let’s Get Into It!

It’s A Learning Experience: I feel like no matter what age you are, you’re always hitting two birds with one stone if you find a game that’s not only entertaining but also educational. It truly amazes me the amount of knowledge I brought in after playing the game for merely 2 hours. I learned about color theory, learned how to use pastels, airbrushes, smudge sticks, and the reasoning behind why some of the Disney characters look the way they do psychologically. The word “academy” in Disney Art Academy isn’t there for show; I felt like I had an actual art professor run me through each lesson and tell me why each piece goes together. Lastly, I think the fact that kids can learn how to create their favorite Disney characters will drive the excitement needed to progress throughout the lessons in the game.

It’s Inspirational: For a lot of users, I feel like this will be their initial inspiration to become a successful animator or artist. Disney Art Academy is also a big platform for your children to share their art ( only creations they make in the game ) with other users. So even though the game only has 80 lessons, what users put onto an open canvas after learning so much is possibly endless.diseny-art-review

It’s Fun And Convenient: If you’re part of that family who’s always out and doing something whether it’s errands or a road trip, this game should do a good job at keeping the little ones occupied. And while the game may be marketed towards children, I think mature gamers can find a lot of fun out of it as well, as they can most games on the 3DS. On a full charge, you can get about five hours of gameplay out of a 3DS, and that’s more than enough time to craft new artworks.

Disney Art Academy is a blast, you guys. On top of it being inspirational, convenient, educational and fun, it’s also cost about $29.00.  It’s a perfect gift for people you know who aspire to be artists. And no matter what age you are, toddler or elder, you can find a butt load of fun out of Disney Art Academy, as not only is it a game, but a fantastic experience. By the time I reach level 80, you will all know me by the name of JJ Picasso!

Until Next Time!

JJ King
