Power Rangers, one of the most iconic groups to protect the Earth from evil forces, has officially arrived on the big screen, and it is going to bring many of us back to the good ol’ 90s, a much simpler time, am I right? Besides the nostalgia, this movie brings above average character development, chemistry building within the cast, and a ton of fan service for those of us who have been a fan for the last two decades. Although this is a fantastic film, I personally would not take my toddler to see it and, I feel that the movie it a better viewing experience for pre-teens and up.
Here are 3 Lessons You’ll Learn From Power Rangers The Movie:
Everyone Has A Story: One of the reasons Power Rangers has kept its appeal is because of the diversity amongst the characters. The Rangers shared different demeanors, races, attitudes, and genders, and throughout time there always has been one Ranger you could identify with, and that rang true in this film. There’s a scene where they all tell each other their backgrounds, and it reminded me that you never know the different challenges one has gone through unless you know their story.
Hold The Line: No matter how scrappy things become, never give up on yourself or others. At one point in the film ( without spoiling anything ), the odds are against the Power Rangers, and throughout their battle, they never gave up on themselves or each other until the battle was over. This lesson should apply to everyone. I am aware that this lesson can be plugged into most titles, but for Power Rangers, this lesson is far more crucial.
With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Whether you’re an older sibling, babysitter, manager, or defender of Earth, if you’re in charge, you still have to set the right examples and follow your morals. In the film, we see the Rangers all set examples for each other along with heightened expectations after working tirelessly to become a team. What I like best about this lesson is that it teaches our youth that nothing is handed to us, and when we do work hard for something, it can still be taken away if they abuse their power. That sounded dramatic, but you get the point, I hope.
If you happen to be parents taking your kids out to see Power Rangers, chances are you know exactly what to expect from the film, because you lived during its’ glory days. To be honest, the movie surprised me, I did not expect it to be as good as it turned out to be, and for the first time in a while, I left the theater wishing there had been more to see. I don’t know if this is complimenting, or concerning for the film itself.
Anywho, Power Rangers rides into theaters on March 24th, so bring a friend or loved one to GO! GO! (see) POWER RANGERS! Cue epic theme song.
Until Next Time
