Calling all Galactic Rangers, it’s time to coalesce for a film of Galactic proportions!

Rainmaker Entertainment and Blockade Entertainment have joined to bring ‘Ratchet & Clank’ , an iconic PlayStation game, to life on the big screen in a CG-animated movie.  Two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy.  Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own.  Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn.  When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy.  Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.

I had a chance to see the film and although, I have not played the game, I found the movie quite entertaining.  I especially appreciated the family friendly jokes and the movie’s overall message to never give up.  However, I found 3 Lessons Kids Can Learn From ‘Ratchet and Clank the Movie.’

Here are 3 Lessons Kids Can Learn From ‘Ratchet and Clank the Movie.’

Don’t earn your way to the top by doing unethical deeds.

Captain Qwark wants to be the center of attention so much that his jealousy of Rachet’s success causes him to lose focus of the Galactic Rangers mission and make choices based on his greed.  This ultimately starts a chain reaction of unfortunate circumstances that could have been avoided.  In the end, Captain Qwark understands what he’s done and tries to fix his wrong doings.

2) There is more to being a hero than bragging and impressing people.

Throughout the film, Ratchet wants to be remembered for doing big things because he feels like that will make him a hero.  But, through a series of events, he realizes you don’t have to do big things to be a hero, just the right ones.

3) Mistakes happen that aren’t always your fault.  Instead of blaming yourself, own up to your mistakes and correct them.

Ratchet’s dream is to become a Galactic Ranger.  When he joins the rangers, he desires to be just like Captain Qwark and begins making poor decisions. Which causes him to make a choice that hurts innocent people once Ratch realizes his mistakes be works through his guilt in order to correct them.
