Despicable Me 3 prolongs the fun and excitement we, the viewers, get from fun music, vibrant colors, and of course, Minions. Not too long ago I was given the opportunity to sit down with Pharrell Williams and listen in on a few Q&A’s about his involvement in the film. This, of course, resulted in a few fun facts.

Here they are 3 Fun Facts About Despicable Me 3’s Soundtrack Producer, Pharrell Williams:

1. Pharrell Williams suggests that there may be more meaning to his new hit “Yellow Light.”

When asked if there was a hidden meaning or message in the song, Pharrell added: ” It does. It does have a deeper meaning, but I want other people to have that same experience of discovery that you did. So, I won’t go into it, but your notion is correct. And all of you haven’t told me what you think it means. That’s what it means. You would only know if you had asked the question.

That’s one of the things that I really like about working on this, it allows me to hide things in there and build songs that are not just songs, but they’re kind of like these, like, curious treasure chests you’re looking for.”

2. Making Despicable Me 3’s Soundtrack Was More Fun Than Challenging.

While this may be obvious, here’s how Pharrell chimed in when I asked him what was the most challenging/fun about making the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack: “Playing music that was a little bit
radical in comparison to what we’ve done before. Just like Despicable Me 2 was different than Despicable Me 1. And allowing– you know, being allowed to continue to do different things as long as it fit the parameter was– that’s been so much fun.”

3. Pharrell Williams’ creative process is as cool as you think it is.

When asked what his favorite part of the creative process was, Pharrell Williams stated: “Songs are essentially like illustrated thoughts. And when you’re communicating with someone, you know when the conversation is over. You know when you felt like you’ve made your point. Songs are no different.”

Say “Aloha” to the Minions. Despicable Me 3 hits theaters June 30th.

& will, of course, be an amazing viewing option for you and or your family.
